yes aloha also means goodbye-- according to the tennesee site the story is that olivers dad after speding time with monte kiffen called weis last night to decommit his son-- ironically he is suppose to be going to play DB for monte and not WR-- so it goes-- disappointing but not surprising

Oh well, let's have our fingers crossed we can land 2 if not all of Te'o, Starling and Moore. I like our chances on all 3 right now and while it sucks to lose a kid this late I never really thought of Oliver as a contributor till later in his career.

Ziggy - you're right that "ill will" is probably too strong, but as there have been many posts on this topic where we wish someone is a stud while they are committed to us, but then say we wish he sits on the bench and doesn't become successful if he goes somewhere else. It's the same thing we see on other boards that we criticize when kids don't choose their schools and things are said like "we didn't want him" or "he isn't that good anyway". Why not just wish him well and move on?

I agree the timing is bad so close to NSD, but it wasn't like nothing changed at Tennessee and this kid just changed his mind. They had a new coaching staff come in, and the new staff probably addressed something he didn't like with the old staff and he got comfortable again.

But it's also not like he is an in-state kid that is going to home state U because he is being pressured by everyone around him. Just cuz there was a coaching change at a university doesn't mean he should automatically go to them. I mean, why didn't he go to Washington or BC or any other school that had a coaching change? The fact is he was committed to ND and he backed out on that.

Yes, he bailed on a commitment to ND, and he will burn in the fires of eternal southern damnation for it. Let's move on.

But before he committed to us, he was committed to Tennessee, that's why he went back there after the coaching change. He had no ties to other schools like he did with Tennessee.

And that is part of my point that it's not like he went somewhere else like BC where he had no ties and left us high and dry, he simply went back to take another look at a place that he committed to before and we apparently pulled his schollie due to CW's policy (per the Rivals link above).

Yes - you're right. There was a lot of rumbling when Ty got fired, and we were thankful for the guys Weis was able to get in front of and convince to stay. On the flip side, if CW is let go, I'd hope a new staff would be able to get back in front of any kids who would look around. Hopefully we have a solid season and don't go there in the first place.

And as Atlanta mentioned, hopefully we'll luck out with Starling, Moore and Teo and this news won't sting as much.

Easy, easy....

really?? then there's more to this than meets the eye................

From my understanding he told his ND recruiter/recruiters that he was not going to UT right up until he left for the visit......

yeah, wassup with that? ziggy??

like Fanatic said, he basically lied to the staff saying he wasnt going to visit and then followed that up with a visit to Tenn.

the staff is basically saying if you're looking, we're looking, but tell us the truth b/c if you're pullin sneaky stuff and lying to us, you're schollie's getting pulled.

hes officially gone, said his heart was always at tennessee but was scared about the coaching situation, says he didnt want to play WR, and that hes very excited to play S under kiffin

If he would have been straight up with Polian, he would still have an offer waiting after he took his visit because i doubt we had targeted any other WR/DBs.

Se le vie

Anyhow, I say we throw out a few a few pipeline reinforcing offers to diamonds in the rough and see if we can pick up a project who wont bolt if he cant start right away. (eg a Claw Matthews jr)
