whatever damage we did with teo on his fiasco trip for syracuse-- was first softened up by charlies visit after USC and then the teams arrival and practice where he hung out-- and then that lights out show in front of all his peers ,friends and family---it was the feeling out here that we led for teo before the dark days of november-- my feeling now-- WE GET A BIG SURPRISE-the odds now 60 40 ND over byu and usc-- i think this may happen and its all the positive feelings locally and nationally that will make the difference IMHO

Wait, I thought this was a dead period?

the players can go wherever he wants, he watched practice twice I think and then hung out a little too.

I still think he's a longshot but I have to agree the butt whippin put on Hawaii certainly didnt hurt. Those 8 sacks with LB's rushing like crazy has to make him think a little harder as well. If I was him I'd be out to prove I wasnt a one dimensional kid who can only play in warm weather. I'd welcome the challenge of going to another religions school to prove to everyone that I can adjust to anything. Being seen on national t.v. every weekend would definately be a plus as well. We shall see.

I don't see how beating Hawaii changes anything. He clearly wants to pick the school that is going to offer him the best chance to be the man he wants to be (on and off the field). I do not see how beating Hawaii is going to change our position with him. I still think ND is on the outside looking in, and that USC and BYU are the front runners. UCLA is also up there because of Chow. IMHO I think ND is 4th and has a TON of ground between them and #3.

I honestly think that if we were going to get him, it would have been at (or around) the time of his visit. The fact that he came back and has stated many times that it is still completely up in the air dowsn't bode weill for us.

Again.....just my opinion.

All good points. Maybe there is someone else Charlie is having a look at.

we are not no 4 for teo by any stretch of the imagination-- the family love charlie and are in awe of ND--- charlie hasnt been flying out here every here every other week just to secure the no 4 spot--before his visit and our late season collapse it was thought by most out here based on comments by his coaches that were uneducated guesses as they admit-- and on others close to him -- they felt when all was said and done it would be ND-- based on the respect for charlie and the thrill of an ND education and a son with an ND degree--- now obviously 3 weeks of national ridicule and talk of firing charlie didnt help-- but i think we are right back in this now and may very well be the team to beat!!

Here is how it might help, clearly he is undecided given the number of teams he has talked about and still plans to visit, it helps that he has had the chance twice to meet the current ND players and hopefully become friends with some of them. If he is truly undecided it may come down to the friendships he has made, every thing else being equal.

There are thirty-three poly-reasons I feel like USC has the inside track here:

George Achica, Pat Ah-Hing, Al Aliipule, Michael Alo, Charley Ane, Martin Coleman, Salo Faraimo, Paul Green, Harold Han, Stanley Havili, Arthur Hemingway, John Kamana, Kolomona Kapanui, Gaylord Kuamoo, Chris Limahelu, Taitusi Lutui, Malaefou MacKenzie, Faaesea Mailo, Kaluka Maiava, Alatini Malu, Fred Matua, Rey Maualuga, Junior Moi, Johnny Naumu, Sol Naumu, Kennedy Pola, Troy Polamalu, Junior Seau, Lofa Tatupu, Mosi Tatupu, Brian Tuliau, Christian Tupou and Junior Utu.

the number of those guys that were intersted in ND-- that had visits from ND head coaches-- is ZERO--- manti is an outlier as a local player-- he has always been interested in ND - and has a personal relationship with weis- i cant remember another local player yet alone a top player that had similar feelings-- and i also understand that hes not thrilled with the atmosphere at USC and the area in southern california--afterall if you talk religion southern california the school or the area doesnt pop into the conversation often-- we may not get his commit-- but i would bet BYU would be the choice long before SC-- irrespective of their obvious football appeal

Great stuff Hawaiirish. Keep it coming. You're the only one that has made me think that we may have a shot. don't think it will happen but at least CW is trying. I don't remember who said this but I heard this kid is a longshot. ;)

2lakes, that was a great list of players.

just up scout premium artcle-- " weis and company continue to impress teo"--have no idea whats in it-- probably no more then i have already said but in anycase it sure sounds like over at scout they see us better then 4th in this hunt as well!

I don't know where Te'o ends up, but I do know that he has gotten comfortable with the players, coaches, and Weis. Weis has won over the parents, and you know how far that goes when it comes to ND. Anytime you put this much effort into recruiting a player, positive things always happen, that's just how recruiting works, kids love to be courted, and not only has he been courted by Weis and our coaching staff, he's been courted by the fans (leis). You saw that in the Jamarcus McFarland article where Texas slacked and he ended up committing to Oklahoma.. I also think the weather is the least of our worries, it's not warm either in Provo Utah, (17 degrees and snowing), and most believe them to be the leader. I don't have any inside information on this kid, but what I do know is that Charlie would not be putting this much attention into a kid he felt he had no chance with, the guy has two bad, painful knees. To be honest, Id think winning the parents is more important, and I think it bodes well since his parents wont be accompanying him on his other trips. Gives me the feeling that Charlie will definitely have an advantage in that dept, not to mention his teammates have been hanging around the team all week. Couple that with the fact that we aren't in on too many defensive prospects, It gives him more time to put the full court press on the kid. With all that said, I feel that they both have a lot invested in each other, because they've gotten to know each other so well, so if he does not pick ND, it's going to be tough breaking the news to Weis. I have to believe he's seriously considering ND.
