I'm just saying...

Tate was responsible for more than 1500 all-purpose yards this year. Consider how far he has come from the raw talent of last year. Consider the fact that he has all the ingredients -- the speed, flamboyance, self-confidence, toughness, and the flexibility. Consider his ability to return punts, kick-offs, and play receiver: he calls to mind Touchdown Timmy Brown and The Rocket. And he could play running back too, if they needed him to.

Tonight:

6 catches

177 yards

3 TDs

1 fantastic PR (called back)

I won't crown him yet, he still has to polish his route running next season. I think he can do this and seems to have the drive. He is one hell of a ball player though, get him the ball some how. We need to keep working on other weapons though too, because we saw what happened when Floyd got hurt, people didn't respect our pass game as much.

I'm not sure if he's going to do baseball again this spring or not, I guess it doesn't matter as long as he is producing on the FB field huh. I hope next year with the development of some more young WR, we can see Tate getting a few pitches or hand-offs ala Percy Harvin or Jeremy Maclin(sp?) from Mizzou especially when we are in a 5 WR set/empty backfield.

I'd like to hear what the coaches are saying about his route running this year. He seems to be catching more of the ten to fifteen yard passes, which may indicate he has improved in that area.

And what happened to Floyd today? His absence after the first couple series leads me to believe he was either reinjured or just did not recover enough.

Not sure about Floyd, he seemed to be in there quite a bit to me. I think one possibility is that Tate was just on fire and whooping his DB's arse in getting open so he was thrown to more. Plus with Floyd being hurt for a few games and just recently back he and Jimmy weren't quite on the same frequency they were on before. Floyd almost had another awesome TD catch but it was knocked out by the DB's helmet. Credit Clausen too for dropping the ball into area's where the receivers could make the catch. Of the 3 or so incompletes I saw, they seemed more because the receivers dropped them than bad passes. It was nice to see the ball getting slung all around the field though, not many routes or receivers seemed out of position IMO, and how about those screens.

if he dominates in all phases it could def happen. the only way a WR will win the Heisman is if he's a dynamic PR/KR as well.

n Floyd looked shaken up on that slant that knocked the Gold off his helmet. I saw it live and it looked awesome.

Brian Smith also had fewers snaps in this game too. Dont want to mess around with knees esp when these guys are so young.

By live, I assume you mean you were at the game. Lucky so-and-so.

When the play occurred, I noticed that something went flying. I thought it was his mouthpiece. Then, they showed the replay later in the game and called it "a golden shower." Not the best choice of words. I would have gone with "a shower of gold" just to avoid that unfortunate connotation.

Crazy thought. The only reason we offered Tate was Because Regis Benn decommited from his silent. At that point, I believe Tates biggest offer was from Vandy.

Just chew on that for a second.

i will chew on that and LOOOOVEEE the taste for as long as I live brother... I love this kid! GOOOOOO IRISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what I love about Golden Tate, its the fact that when he scores a touchdown, he treats it like its just something he does and doesn't posture and have to be bigger than the team. I was a little worried we weren't going to be able to contain the one defensive player on our team, can't remember his name, he was called once for excessive celebration, I thought he was going to get called a few more times, but I'm sure he just got caught up in having a great game, he was probably feeling invincible. I wish there wasn't an excessive celebration really, it seems as though it hurts teams and hurts the game when the game doesn't need it. I think it makes the game more exciting but its a downer when you get penalized for it. I'm not saying I like the taunting though, like some teams do (disrespecting and such).

someone asked about floyd?? his mere presence is critical in getting tate the matchups that allow him to dominate. you can't blanket em both. floyd back in the lineup turned our anemic offense into the explosive force it has the potential to be. pass blocking was phenominal. now lets get this team back on track and tell all the naysayers to eat s#%t.............

 You certainly said it!

That was Sergio Brown, and it was crap call, he was away from all the Hawaii players and just jumping around and doing the "face thing" with other players, but he did have a good game, so i dont mind the penalty. I would take a few more, cause it would mean we were making more big plays.

Golden has a fan page on facebook. There is a picture on there of Golden and my son from spring game a year ago.

Golden is just a playmaker. Hardly ever goes down on the first hit and makes outstanding catches. Can't believe his only other big offer was Vandy.

Some schools may have been turned off by his measurebles. We got a hell of a player.
