December 19, 200816 yr Teo has 3 visits scheduled in Jan per ESPN; BYU, Stanford, and USC. ...in that order?
December 20, 200816 yr I called into rivals radio this morning and asked about teo, and they said their sources have him leaning to BYU over USC or us. So take it for what it is worth, but I hope they are wrong
December 20, 200816 yr I'll be shocked if he doesnt go to BYU. If this kid is a good enough Mormon to be talking about a mission I seriously doubt he's going to a Catholic school. Back me up on this one Facemask, you live in Utah so you know what Im talking about. If Im wrong and he comes to ND I'll be happy to take abuse from anyone on this board. Ask yourself this, if you were a stud football player brought up a good Catholic kid and raised on ND, would you turn down ND to go to BYU? He probably thinks ND was fun, interesting, has respect for us, etc., etc., etc., but he'll respectfully decline.

The mission has nothing to do with the university he chooses. He just wants a school that'll respect his decision to go on a mission and he'll play football when he's finished.

His mission has everything to do with where he goes to college. What exactly is your experience with the Mormons and the LDS church?
December 21, 200816 yr ok so if he ends up at USC it's b/c they're the best school for his mission & the mormon/LDS way? exactly, it's whatever the kid wants to do, not necessarily his religion.

Hey at $C, you have Maluuga who said "I own the police"...and after beating the crap out of someone, he got off (surprise surprise)... Teo has 3 visits still to come...and ours already occured during the Syracuse debacle...lets face it, the chances of him coming here are slim and none...and slim just left town.

Nope SC is not necessarily what is best for him. Go talk to an LDS missionary and ask them what they think of Catholics and the Catholic church. That has everything to do with it. I wont argue about it anymore though. We'll just have to wait and see.
December 21, 200816 yr He sat and watched ND practice yesterday and was interviewed by local TV about ND.
December 21, 200816 yr LOOKS LIKE A DONE DEAL IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S BETWEEN byu and notre dame , forget the rest . he could fall our way with a good showing over the rainbows , but byu has a slight lead at the moment .

Mormons teach that the Catholic Church is the "Great Abominable Church or Satan's Church." Since we joke about it, we laugh it off, but I think this is what Germany is referring to.......No LDS would consider going to a Catholic school. Correct me if I'm wrong though. There are Mormons at other schools but the fact that ND is a Catholic university might prove to be a negative. BTW, Jake Heaps the #1 QB in the nation next year, already has an offer from ND is also LDS. This just speaks to how good CW is recruiting to even make it this far with Te'o, IMO.
December 21, 200816 yr no self respecting mormon would ever go to a catholic school. could you see him going to pre-game mass???? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 21, 200816 yr the kids from the islands football kids or not-- the local kids- hawaiian, hapa, and samoan kids that are LDS--- are often first generation mormons-- the mormon church has a strong history evangelizing out here and continue to be very active--BUT__ these kids are hawaiian mormons--they are not utah mormons-- the difference is substantial--american catholics to analagize--my point is i dont believe religion puts us on the outs at all--- if we lost any ground with teo -- its the same damn reason we lost it with pollard and others-- crappy performance and national criticism!---IF we win big with a lights out performance in front of everyone in the islands the teo respects---i think we will get a COMMIT---if we play the lethargic brand of ND football we have all seen the last half of the year then its BYE BYE-- just another BIG reason to play well and win big

Thanks for bringing up this fact mcdougal. My sister in law is Mormon and sort of the black sheep of her family for marrying an Irish Catholic. Her whole family went to BYU (5 of them) and her brother works in the athletic department. Nothing would please me more than to see ND wipe his smugness away with whatever means possible. Lots of people from the Islands are Mormon and have been for many years. Im not for sure what Teo's personal sitution is (how long his family has been Mormon) but it would be a HUGE accomplishment if Charlie pulled it off. We shall see.
December 22, 200816 yr i try not to get into someone's head based on what religion they say are. every person on the planet sees God in their own personal way. People pick, choose, and rationalize which doctrines they hold closest to their heart and which ones they just don't think about. I have no problems with gays, and i think gays should be able to marry. Does the church , nope. So i say we see where Teo chooses to go, and before that, like every other recruit. If this thread were about a recruit of Islamic or Hebrew faith... we would be discussing which school would accommodate his prayer rug or being serving a kosher menu at their dinning hall... it gets funny.
