Simply another great find by DD's FaceMask. :) Kudos my man.

Thanks SJ. :D

whether you want Urban to come here or not, this is good stuff what is happening

looks like 09 iss the year it couyld happen if cw dosen't turn this team into a bcs team . , it could happen as it's um DREAM JOB . and as the bear said why leave is MAMA is calling . looks like cw will have to get it on or be gone . What say you ? go irish ...

I really hope ND fans aren't set on Urban coming here any time soon. They are just setting themselves up for disappointment.

yep, people are drooling on themselves, not realizing this is all for the benefit of his soon to be new contract with UF....

better sign me up or next year...

I agree irishguy but these days if you consider yourself a notre dame football fan you pretty much are already setting yourself up for dissapointment as you experience it pretty much every year. Also, if you expect 10 wins next year with charlie weis still on the sidelines then you may be setting yourself up for disappointment as well. I dont think either will happen, but I think there's about as much of a chance to have urban coaching the irish sometime soon as there is that this team will win 10+ next season.

i think urban meyer is a great coach but i don't like his offense and i wouldn't want to see it at ND. i still prefer the pro-style offense that ND and OU run.

OU? As in Oklahoma? Their offense isn't exactly pro style

honestly, the best thing weis is selling to current recruits is that playing for him at ND will get you more ready for the NFL than almost any other school.

ND doesnt run a stripped down offense, simplified for college kids. for good or bad on the field, it's a huge leg up to the ND players when it comes to the next step.

This is in complete contrast to UF where they run an offense you can learn in an afternoon. that's perfect for the college and HS game, but that doesnt get you ready for the NFL.

If ND's players and coaches get things sorted out, we'll see more games like the SC game in weis' first year. where ND can out scheme vastly superior talent, we just arent there yet. I really think we are going to be alot better next year. 3 to 6 to 9+... that's good coaching to me.

This whole saga is like professional wrestling, its not real but somewhat entertaining. Enjoy it for what it is guys. Just like earlier stated in this thread, its a slap in the face of UF fans. Couldnt happen to a better bunch of toothless guys yall.

Great quote in that article:

"Hey, it's one thing for your high school sweetheart to always be the girl of your dreams, but you don't go and tell your wife about it, do you?"

Awesome

Guys, there is no chance that Meyer is the next head coach at Notre Dame. You should see how rooted he and his family are to the area. There is no way he pulls his family out and moves them to a place they don't want to go. That is assuming Meyer even wants to leave Florida, which I don't see happening either.

He picked Florida over ND to begin with, and what has changed since that day? Florida is a huge success, he has his system in place, he knows his staff like the back of his hand, has recruiting ties to the local schools, and his family is extremely rooted into the Gainesville community. He also still has a young family with 2 kids being in HS and a daughter that picked Georgia Tech over Ohio State, Utah, and Cincinnati because it was much closer to home.

I would love to see Meyer go to Notre Dame, but it just isn't going to happen.

I wouldnt say never. He WILL leave UF someday. People get some wanderlust in them, he'll start looking for the BBD. Maybe NFL maybe a pure presige job like ND, but just about all coaches move on.

and for the obvious cases of those who stay put...

The other side is that UF existed before Meyer, so it isnt like FSU or PSU that were made by their coaches and owe him a few bad seasons. If meyer struggles or defenses scheme his offense out of existance he could be persona non grata in gainsville.

I don't mean never in a sense that Meyer will never leave Florida. Maybe he does. But I don't think it is worth talking about, just like it isn't worth talking about other young coaches like Richt leaving Georgia or Stoops leaving Oklahoma. Yeah, maybe one day Stoops does leave OU, but we have no idea when so it isn't worth talking about.

I'm not sure what a pure prestige job is and I'm not sure why Meyer would want that over Florida. You don't up and leave a GREAT position for a new challenge unless that challenge is for the NFL.

Meyer's challenge, and this would be my advice for him, is to strive to be the greatest coach of your generation. Try to become the greatest college football coach of all-time. You accomplish that by winning conference titles, winning BCS Bowl games, and winning National Titles. If the Florida can't offer you the best position possible to accomplish that, he needs to leave. But I really think that Florida is a Top-3 job when it comes to putting the head coach in a position to have success. The other 2 are USC and Texas. All 3 of those schools are the #1 University in the 3 states that have the most talent. Florida also has great support from the administration, amazing facilities, and weather to recruit kids from all over the country.
