Okay, before I lay this question out to you guys, you have to promise not to blast me, its completely one those questions that make you go hmmmm ...

so here goes ..

If Pete Carroll were ever to be made Notre Dame head coach would you be confident in his ability to succeed under the golden dome? Could you handle the fact that he was a Trojan for so many years and support his efforts to grow a Notre Dame football program?

The reason I ask is that when trades or acquisitions are made in baseball, even between some of the biggest rivals (Red Sox / Yankees) .. ie. Yankees getting guys like Boggs, Clemens, Damon (over the years) .. all guys who were true Red Sox that became yankees who eventually wore their pinstripes with pride. Is this much different then picking up a coach from another school who once was a foe of ours?

There is absolutely no doubt that PC could succeed at ND. Like him or not, PC is a great college football coach, that fact that he is coaching at a rival would raise no issues with me....

yeah the poodle would win a ton of NCs at ND

NDJoe, how did Pete get the nickname poodle? It's funny, lol

because of his adhd tendencies. watch him along the side lines, he's like a dog trying to get his head out of a car window. that, and his curly hair.............

I actually met him before in SoCal at an AVP Pro Beach Volleyball event before, over the summer, he seemed really nice when I met him. I got the vibe that he just was able to relate to young people well. He just seems like he has fun and is enjoying life. Oh well.

At almost 66 I wish I had hair , let alone curley. Ahahahahahahah.

adults with add relate very well to young people, it's a fact. not that there's anything wrong with that.........;)

not to throw cold water on the poodle , but lets cut this coaching changes and what if on this one or that one , we have a coach that will get the job done , iam sure his physical problems didn't help that much charlie is doing the job he just dosen't have all this Meyer /poodle traits he is a proven winner, and he will win again m Meyer was only as good as that off cord that has run his Utah and gator offence and called the plays carroll was a no good NFL coach that couldn't get it done , they have a lot of talent in talented areas to choose from , iam sure even schell could coach the gators and win . but di they turn out quality people like the ones that graduate from Notre Dame . go charlie put a whipping on the rainbows get them knees fixed and get us to the the BCS showdown . go irish

Guys.................you are forgetting the most important thing about the "Poodle", & perhaps why he wouldn't succeed at N.D. He,( along with Urbie), would not be able to get the same type of athletes that they recruit at SC.........also don't forget the weather

I didn't forget those things, I know they go along way too.

That may be true, but at least Poodle has shown the ability to develop players and get them to play to their max potential. Whether we like it or not, he relates well to kids 18-22 years old and I think that is one of the big reasons for his success. Also one of the big reasons he did so crappy in the NFL.

I'm sorry, but I'm betting if Pete coached us this year, we would have been no worse than 9-3.

There is no doubt that Poodle would do very well at ND. He knows how to develop talent and is a great coach.

He does have advantage in recruiting because of the Ventura to Riverside county HS but you also have to remember that he does a great job recruiting OOS.

Vidal Hazelton, Joe McKnight, John Booty, Mike Williams, Keith Rivers, Taylor Mays, Brian Cushing, Everson Griffen, Chris O'dowd, Patrick Turner, etc. are all OOS guys.

i have no idea if Carroll could do well at ND.

he has always been able to recruit well, but i could probually recruit well at USC. convince high school boys to come to a university in Southern California where the weather is warm all the time and that leads to alot ALOT ALOT of hot girls all around, plus your close to the beach/ocean. not to mention the history of the football program and how they are successful every year, plus they currently play in one of the easiest conferences. not exactly a hard place to recruit no matter where the high school boys are from.

I'm curious, but not naive, do you think hot girls and the beach come on the sales pitch? I'm thinking it might?

I think that some don't realize that the USC campus is nowhere near the beach. In fact, the school is in one of the worst neighborhoods in America. It's really almost a third world area.

I would never want to send my child to there.
