Now we can move on....... To speculating about what assistants will be canned ;).

If this turns out to be true two things better have occured for the AD to take so long. Fliers must have been sent out and no one up to ND standards was interested and/or Charlie was given orders to dismantle his offensive staff. I must say I am dissapointed but will root for Charlie and hope for a great year. Next move get a staff together and retain CB at all costs, he is the only one on this staff, well maybe he and Tenuta - that have shown they want to do what is necessary to make this thing work.

I fear tossing a few position coaches under the bus may only be rearranging deck chairs on the titanic.

Weis brought these coaches to the dance. Its his responsibility to take responsibility for their failure and his own.

I have never seen a team as fundamental weak and lost on gameday.

I would hope he did his job and sent out fliers to outstanding candidates.

I hope he did not tell charlie to fire anyone. that is NOT the AD's job. Let charlie fire the coaches, he would know best and it's his tail on the line.

I have to say I am extremely disappointed. I just don't think Weis is the guy to turn things around. I will say that I desperately hope that I am wrong and I will root for Weis to get the job done. I know one thing for sure though.....I can't take another season like the crap we have endured over the last 2. He better get all new O coaches and better figure it out.

Is the air being sucked out of my lungs.

I will root for Charlie just as hard as anyone next year.

I am with you on both statements. Unfortunately I fear an 8 win season next year and that's not good enough for me. 8 wins in 2009 will be good enough for another year in 2010 in which he'll get a pass for having a brand new offensive line. In 2011 he'll get a pass because he will have a brand new QB. Maybe we will contend in 2012.

Sorry for the sarcasm. I hope with every bone in my body that I am wrong.

i will be rooting very hard for him, hope he makes some smart changes and turns everything around.....go irish

If its true its very sad, I just hope that every feeling i have about this coaching staff is wrong. I feel we'll have nothing but a lame duck coach but at least he should be able to keep this recruiting class together so next year the cupboard is even more full and the administration will have 12 months to conduct a complete and thorough search for a possible replacement.

For those of you that wanted weis another season congratulations, i hope your right and im wrong, and if i am wrong and he wins 10 next year ill apologize, admit that im wrong, and be as happy as everyone else but the realist in me says 10 wins next year is laughable. Just dont be surprised when this team wins 7 or 8 games next year against a watered down schedule and the same appeasers are clamming for another year saying hes "almost there". I guess mediocrity is accepted these days in south bend, sad, very sad.

ill believe it when i see a direct quote from Swarbrick.

if it is true, im very disappointed.

if ND had sent out word to other possible replacements, correct me if im wrong ..then noone had any contact with Meyer, because from what i thought Meyer wasnt allowed to talk to anyone from any other school until after the game with Alabama, right?

if Weis is here, i better hear about multiple changes on the coaching staff, and for proven new coaches to come in. i want proven coaches at the new positions who not only have a history at that position but proven success. none of the new coaches should be entering the first year at that position.

tenuta or brown need to go. that was a debacle from the beginning. the defense was not up to snuff.

disagree, i think are d has played decent. only knock is the opponents running yards, but thats expected based on how we lack depth on the d line. but also u have to remember our offense has sucked very badly lately and that forces the d to be on the field longer and get tired

i dont really know the name of the coaches, but the top 2 that need to go are the offensive line coach, and the QB coach. they need to go.

im very disappointed if Weis is actually back. i dont see him being able to coach on the field. hes supposed to be this genious play caller, wheres that guy??

they were talking earlier today on ESPN about the USC game, and how USC said they knew every play the Irish were going to run. they were predictable and easy to stop. thats why the Irish sucked BAD!

Weis can't coach at the college level. Period. 2009 will be slightly better than this year, but big deal. The koolaid drinkers will excuse 2009 as well, and when ND goes 7-5 they will swear that it proves that things are getting better. Nonsense. How so many can't see Weis' incompetence is really dumbfounding.

I feel the same way all of you do. I love ND football too much to see our football team play the way they have these last two years.

I've done a complete 180 on CW and hope that there is some big name available next year.

The two can't work together. Having two D coordinators is ridiculous and was a game that failed.

the schedule sets up for 7 wins (again) next season. after a 7-5 season, Charlie will be let go, but a year too late
