Franco
Been hearing that a quite a few recruits in the 2009 class will decommit if Weis is fired. Also, I've been hearing some words of attrition already. One that was very surprising was that Michael Floyd will go back to Minnesota if Weis were to leave. These are all just rumors, but as with all rumors, there lies a grain of truth
irishziggy
where are you hearing the rumors?
GermanyDomer
Thats crazy. Floyd is not going anywhere. He came for the education not to be Charlie's loyal lap dog. If any others want to jump, let them. As many coaches have proven this year, you can bomb with great talent and win big with no talent. It just takes good coaching. If we get that the rest will fall into place.

IrishGuy
I am convinced that we HAVE to keep Weis for at least one more year. He needs to replace most of his staff, but Weis HAS to stay.

These are all just rumors, but as with all rumors, there lies a grain of truth Even if this isnt true we can not get rid of Charlie. Many recruits have committed to ND because of Charlie and his connections to the NFL. If we fire him it will mess everything up recruiting wise. We need to have faith in Charlie and give him one more year.

ND FANATIC
Well aparently the coaching staff is telling the recruits (Evans and Watt)that CW will be there next year, so the staff knows what will be the outcome of the meeting saturday or CW and his staff are assuming things and telling the recruits that he will be there.... http://notredame.rivals.com/barrier_noentry.asp?ReturnTo=&sid=&script=content.asp&cid=883754&fid=&tid=&mid=&rid= http://notredame.rivals.com/
Franco
link? without a link it'll just seem like you're trying to stir the pot oh sorry, here's the link... crap, I can't find it anymore...it was on the CBS Sportsline Notre Dame threads. It was posted by a guy named purguy who is usually VERY reliable when it comes to recruiting news.
chirodomer
Floyd is going nowhere! If a new HC comes in then expect Floyd and Tate to both expand their roles. Has anyone from UM won a HEISMAN? Floyd could at ND if the team improves.
Guest Timbo1599
I just found that thread you were talking about: http://www.sportsline.com/mcc/messages/chrono/11972360 Your boy purguy wasn't the one that said it, it was some other joker. Here is the post: shadowman16 Amateur Reputation:1 Level:Amateur Since:Nov 30, 2008 November 30, 2008 12:18 am Score: 58 "I've heard that Floyd might be heading back home if the coaching regime at ND folds...he should've gone to Minny anyway!" I think it is safe to say that the poster was trying to stir things up. Not saying that their wouldn't be defections if Weis and his staff were to leave but I don't think this guy has any solid evidence or inside info. Rockne3d
this is exactly WHAT will happen............. agreed. The rumors are just a bunch of BS. I think the plan is pretty simple. ND will feel out some top of the line coaches, if there is mutual interest than ND will quietly go forward with that. If no interest in TOP coaches than CW will be the coach in 2009. As for top coaches I would say the likes of Urban Meyer, Gruden and Stoops. In being realistic, remove Stoops from that list. But Meyer and Gruden are both realistic. Butch Davis could also be thrown into that mix. IMO, Stoops is the best coach in the nation. Edited December 2, 2008 by Rockne3d

SpecialFNK
lets say ND gives Weis another season, and next season is pretty much the same as this season and more people are willing to say OK fire Weis.. isnt it just as likely were at the same position then as now regarding recruits who will have verbally committed then to ND with rumours they will change and go elsewhere if Weis was fired? i dont think ND should be going after any coaches from the NFL, head coach or otherwise. ND should be focusing on someone who has more experience at the college level. if you bring in another NFL type coach you could be at the same position as now in another 4-5 years. Respectfully disagree about Stoops, I believe he is a close second to Sabin. Speaking of which we all know he has no love toward any University why not toss his name in the hat too? ND in OH
If were doing what if's, and we all know that we can speculate until hell freezes over, but what if Weis makes the right moves and replaces Latina, Oliver and Powlus. Gets top notch replaces goes 11-1 and 12-0 the next 2 years and all of this pissing in our pants was for nothing?? Lets face it fellas nobody is going to come here and coach this team with a knee jerk reaction every time things don't as planned.
