ND FANATIC
I voted he should go...... I've had this nagging suspicion for a while now, but I don't think that CW will ever be a great college coach. When I watch him coach, he looks like the CEO of the company I work for, unemotional and stoic. The problem is that isn't what college football is about, its about raw emotion, containing it and channeling it so that the players play at their top levels, and CW doesn't seem to get it. I'm not sure he understands how to develop the talent of 18 yr old kids, he was so used to getting finished products in the NFL, he never had to learn how to get them to that level. If you ask me, CW is too "cerebral" for college football, he thinks to much and doesn't "feel" the game. In my eyes, he's an NFL coach who will probably never be a great college coach, Just like Pete Carrol is a great college coach and not good in the NFL. ***but I hope I'm completely wrong***
phillyirishfan
I voted for him to stay. My true feeling are that he has turned Notre Dame back to big time recruiting. Bob Davie and Tyrone Willingham had people believing you could not recruit at Notre Dame.By doing that I feel has earned the right to see those players through. Guest ndficoop
I voted "NO". I have been a fan of Weis since his hiring and admire him for the effort he has put forth regarding recruiting. But, when I watch teams around the nation with MUCH less talent (e.g. Cincinnati) beat teams ND lost to, my faith in his ability to turn this thing around is lost. How many 3rd and 2's has ND failed to convert? Or even 4th and 1? The 3 and outs are deja vu of the Ty era. I have no hard feelings toward Weis. His "zone blocking" scheme and NFL gameplan just does not cut it at this level.

imroc
Stepping stone to the re-birth of the program. I thought it would take 2-3 yrs under a single coach. Now i'm looking at him as in interim til we get a truly great coach. let's say thanks for bringing the quality players and start looking at a truly exceptional coach. one more year? I say we begin looking for a coach now, and use patience. Really though, how can he have such an unproductive offense? Most horrible teams would've at least accidentally picked up yards and first downs. His display on the field is outright horrible and I really think he's well in over his head right now. irishwavend
For those discussing coach alternatives, I propose a ban for anyone mentioning Urban Meyer or Lou Holtz. It doesn't have to be permanent, but something to make people wake up and think straight. Those two should be TOTALLY out of the question. What do you think? Urban's a sellout piece of crap and Lou is old and out of touch. Hell, he could die tomorrow.

I think if Lou came back we would be winning a lot more games than we are now without missing many recruits. I don't think it will happen but it's okay to discuss, isn't it? jon33dn
People discussing Holtz just look silly and i think we are regard them as such. Meyer is just plain dangerous. Would be very interesting if he approached us or we got to him quietly, but we cant admit to having considered him without a signed contract. He is more likely to publicly humiliate the university than to take the job. He would use it recruiting against us. would use it to promote his program and university. Guest SirJohn
No Ban. People are free to post their opinion at DD as long as it isn't flaming.
irishwavend
I kid, I kid. But, I am making a point. Meyer is a piece of sh*t, no ifs ands or buts. Lou is way too old and the game was different then. I mean, are we seriousssssly talking about Lou? Urban is common sense. A guy who has bad mouthed every chance he gets deserves ZERO mention on any Notre Dame board. As far as the ban, I am playing, of course. IrishPolock
I had to say no... I was leaning towards keep him until we got throttled by SC... I expected to get trashed and would have accepted the score if we could have moved the ball a bit, the utter lack of offense hit me in the gut and made me fall backwards off the fence

DTCBND03
Charlie deserves one more year given the recruits he's been able to bring in. Make some adjustments with the assistant coaches and we could be an elite team once again.

SpeedsterX
I voted one more year. Let's see some asst. coaching changes and see if Jimmy's junior year resembles Brady's. If it doesn't then let him go.
