Before you get a headache and snap at me, this IS NOT a rumor. This is purely a question.

What if Urban Meyer was hired at Notre Dame?

Would the Urban Meyer haters come out in full force?

Here's another question....What if Urban Meyer started winning 10 games a season, and even a National Championship? Would the haters still judge Meyer on his shady recruiting?

What if Meyer was stealing kids from Florida (or any other school) for Notre Dame? Would we still hate him?

I just want to see where everybody is at. It's completely different when you're winning...sure, I was pissed when I heard Meyer was stealing recruits, but would we really turn our back on Meyer if he was winning us NC's and 10+ win seasons?

Assuming all of the above came to pass...the Meyer haters would still hate him...they just wouldn't post as much here.

I don't hate him and I don't know what he does that is much different than most coaches (except Charlie) in the recruiting area. They all have there own styles and it's a brutal business. I don't give any of them a pass when it comes to integrity on this issue. Most of them are pushing the envelope at least a bit. JMHO.

My problems with having Urban would be that (a) we are not his first choice, therefore not his passion and (b) don't like what we have all heard about the negative recruiting and lying to his players that he has done

I think it will all just be speculation...UM wouldn't come here without a ridiculous package presented to him...and ND is hardly the school to do that at this point in time (after the 10 yr CW debacle).

read his book and tell me that he doesnt love ND. ND is a nat'l recruiting school, he wanted his kids to grow up a lil' bit before he coached at ND. At that point it wasnt the right move for his family. His oldest was 14, second was 11, and youngest was like 6. At Florida he could recruit all day and be home by dinner. At ND CW's gone for days at a time sometimes.

Now they're 18, 15, and 10. One's in college, the other two are old enough to grasp with change.

just to add something. I do not think Urban will come just yet b/c I belive that he'd wait for his second daughter to graduate HS in 2 years. After that I think that if the ND job opened up then he'd come with open arms.

Wow, didn't know that..so you are saying the dream job comment is true and still stands...

Meyer is the guy i would want as my first choice. we can see his track record. not only can he win games, but he can recruit.

has he stretched the truth/lied to recruits? maybe, does it really matter? i would rather have him here stretching the truth to recruits to get them to come to ND rather than stretching the truth to get players away from ND. he wants to win, so hes going after the recruits he wants. prior to signing day in February what does a verbal commit mean anyway? until a player signs on the dotted line he is available to go anywhere.

if meyer came to ND we would win a lot more than we are now

would we be able to run his type of offense with the players that we are able to get?

the guys that he seems to get are all from the south i dont think there is that type of speed in the midwest for that style

My problems with having Urban would be that (a) we are not his first choice, therefore not his passion and (b) don't like what we have all heard about the negative recruiting and lying to his players that he has done

How many coaches take jobs that are their first choice? If you think whoever we get will be someone who wants to go here over anywhere you're crazy. Coaches go for 2 things 1.) money 2.) good career opportunities

Why do some think that only people from the south can run fast? I saw some fast running last night by a few USC players! I guess they were from the south side of LA. Oh and that's not Lower Alabama. Lol

In my opinion he would have to be nuts to leave Florida

I think that most people would look at Meyer (who I don't think will leave UF for ND) like the player that you hate on other teams, but love them when they are on your team.

IF Meyer ever coaches at ND, and started winning double digit games per year and beating U$C, people would love him - plain and simple.

1. People hate on him because he's not here.

2. What coach doesn't lie to recruits? Hell when I got recruited, my family and I heard some DOOZIES!

I just want to win.

As I've said before, I had absolutely NO problem with Urban going to Florida over ND, better choice and he has a national championship to show for it. I would love to bring him to ND.
