As for Brian Kelly, an Assumption College grad of Worcester MA (my Alma Mater). He went to a school named after the assumption of our lady (of the lake) into heaven. Perhaps it's a sign, Our Lady would return to glory :).

I am one of the few that thinks Charlie will get one more year. In fact, lets see if Cincy win's there BCS bowl.

If he comes in as an OC fine otherwise never, ever.

Exactly.

I want a big name to rebuild a big program.

If I'm Brian Kelly; no way I take an OC position on the sinking ship of the USS Irish. His star is rapidly rising. Why on earth settle for such a position? Never gonnna happen. He gets the whole ball of wax or he goes somewhere else. If I'm the rising star that Kelly is, I would not take a back seat to Weis. Weis has proven nothing. I couldn't take orders from someone who has shown he is out of touch with his team. Kelly has been a head coach for over a decade. It's his time. He will play second fiddle to no one, especially a floundering coach hanging on to his job by his fingernails.

Here's what I am afraid is going to happen. Coach Weis gets another year. Next year looks like this:

Sept. 5 NEVADA Win

Sept. 12 at Michigan Win

Sept. 19 MICHIGAN STATE Loss

Sept. 26 at Purdue Win

Oct. 3 WASHINGTON Win

Oct. 10 Open Date

Oct. 17 USC Loss

Oct. 24 BOSTON COLLEGE Loss

Oct. 31 vs. Washington State (at San Antonio, Texas) Win

Nov. 7 NAVY Win

Nov. 14 at Pittsburgh Win

Nov. 21 CONNECTICUT Win

Nov. 28 at Stanford Loss

8-4, plus a minor bowl, and he gets another year. The following year is 7-5. Finally, twenty-four months of our life later, the change is made. By this time, we have lost out on two possible BCS bowls, some good coaches, our recruiting has started going back in the wrong direction, and the value of our program to NBC has deteriorated. And I'm 45.

Here's a stat on Brian Kelly - Number of 4 and 5 star recruits in 2006, 2007, 2008 - NONE

How he did against Pitt and Syracuse this year. - WIN WIN

How we did this year - LOST LOST

Must be able to get something out of his kids that we can't with our highly regarded recruits.

That is all I need to know. TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!!!!

When was the last time we played pitt? When was the last time we played syracuse? It's a little different when you play teams year in and year out. Look at Navy. We can handle them. We probably could handle Georgia Tech, but teams that don't play that offense often lose.

So, your argument is lacking in its analysis. Even if Kelly himself only faced those two teams one year prior, the players have seen those teams over and over. They know what to do.

I was thinking the same thing wrover. IMO, no devotion to Our Lady, no program

We can handle navy is your response. Are you kidding me. We lost last year and almost again this year and that is what you think great coaching and good football teams are...we can beat Navy. My point was no big star athletes yet they win. we play USC every year how are we looking against them or the fact that BC has beaten us 6 straight times. we have no emotion and no clue what we are doing on the football field. That is poor coaching.

Ya know right now I really wish we would have lost to SdState and Navy to make this decision much easier

I'm definitely gonna start paying closer attention to Cincinnati with all this BK talk. It's been interesting reading up on what he's done with other programs and I hear ya on the Urban Meyer comparisons...but we must keep in mind the recruiting angle. I looked back at Urban's classes at Utah and they were not ranked higher than 60. The flip side to that argument is that he was able to win with lesser talent. Fair enough. Urban proved he could make the next step when he got to Florida...but he was also part of a football crazy state and football crazy school...so bringing in top recruiting classes there was easy. And Florida can bring in whoever they want and can do it out of their backyard for the most part..Just like Saban can bring in whoever he wants at Alabama and turn them around in 2 years. Notre Dame is completely different. Can BK recruit NATIONALLY given the academic restrictions and still bring in top talent like Weis has? I'm not saying he can't...I'm just saying that right now we have the guy who can. Let's make some adjustments at the assistant coaching positions before we get rid of him. It's amazing what a good offensive line and a running game can do to a team's chances.
