They stated that Swarbrick would be meeting with CW a week from Monday. Not sure exactly what this means, just thought I'd report this to you guys in case you did'nt hear that.

He just meant that they will both be out of town this Monday, so the next time they will meet will be a week from Monday.

Yeah I do remember CW saying he was going to recruit immediately after tonight game. Starting with Anthony Barr I would think would be a good start!!!

SBT had an article today saying that CW is going to be out recruiting in Cali for the next several days and that Swarbrick is traveling also. It just doesn't have the feeling that they are about to make a change yet guys.

Swarbrick said that he will meet with CW and evaluate the position of the football program as it relates to the student athlete (which is BS because football at ND is all about the money). Swarbrick was out in SC and CW needs to have some concrete reassurance of his job security to be going out and recruiting the guys this week. I have a feeling that this media induced speculation on CW's future is starting to lose traction.

i hope so... it's just not logical to fire him unless you have a truly elite guy lined up.

It doesn't have the same feel, because we are dealing with a Notre Dame guy, not just a coach. CW will keep recruiting if a new coach is being brought in or not. Why? Because he cares about the school no matter who the coach is. Swarbrick may have already told Charlie he is out. Charlie is just doing what any good alum would do. Keep recruiting. Unlike Ty or Bob, who would just jump ship and leave everything for the next coach. That is one positive with Charlie. No matter what happens, he cares. He is going to help us out. If we fire Charlie, now, he can't recruit. But if we tell Charlie what's up and keep him abreast of the coaching search, he can help sell the school the way you should when you are looking for a coach, instead of acting like Tennessee or Clemson, just leaving the kids to wonder what the hell.

Charlie's firing will have a different feel all around.

again, hc can recruit off campus for a limited number of days. IF the AD was making a change and knew it, he would hold weis back and let the new guy he chooses, use those days. i would make no sense for weis to be recruiting if he was gone, even if he was out there telling the kids to stick with it b/c he loved ND.

Jon, you make a good point. As important as that is though, I don't think that they are looking at that specifically. If a coaching change is in the offing then the AD and company is looking at the big picture of doing the coaching transition properly. It's a case of having bigger fish to fry... I could be wrong though...it's happened once or twice before

Agree with Jon..wouldn't make any sense to have CW use up those recruiting days if they knew for sure he was gone. My bet would be that they are lining up a suitor behind the scenes and will only make the move if and when they lock in that coach. This would make sense, as Swarbrick is a lawyer and a smart guy who would learn from past mistakes the administration before him has made.

Wouldn't it be just as easy for the University to come out and say 'Charlie is our guy' and thwart any rumors that are out there if in fact they know that right now? It seems as though it would be good for the program (and recruiting) and Charlie so he doesn't get asked to death about whether or not he is worried his job status. It kind of makes you wonder.

Great point shrink...either that will happen or the word will get out quickly that ND is looking for the next HC.

Swarbrick did just come out and say that after the BC game. I'm getting the feeling that the Swarbrick/Weis meeting will be frank. In essence, CW will know that the expectations for 09 are going to be firm. CW will then shake up the staff because he seriously has no choice but to do so at this time and the whole world will see what happens next year.

PS, don't we lose our LT next year? Yeaaaaaaaaaaah.

LT as in left tackle? Yea Turko leaves, but Paul Duncan is applying for a 5th

As for Swarbrick coming out after the BC game, we didnt lose to Syracuse yet. And as ND Fans, I think we all thought that SDSU & Syracuse were the 2 games on the schedule that were guaranteed wins. When we lost to the Cuse, Weis lost the student body. Swarbrick will have to evaluate the whole season like he said in the Navy interview. It doesnt look good for Charlie, but I'm not convinced he's gone yet.

There should be no 5th year acceptance by any coach for the current squad. Senior leadership will not make this team any better next year. We need a change at the top and start anew. once again.....

There will be some names tossed around in the next few days. Let's see where this takes us

you mean no kyle mccarthy a great player and a good leader with a younger sibling on the team just because we need new leadership that makes no sense.

Yeah, Left Tackle. Duncan isn't very good and we have whiffed in recruiting depth at LT. It's the second most important position on the team. Turk went down for a quarter earlier in the year and the replacement LT let the defender around him on the first two plays. It could be ugly.

Of course there is an argument for progression because Turk sucked last year and he has been pretty good this year in pass protection.

Hell, I'll take anyone right now. Give me Navy's O-Line and I'll be happy.

i honestly wouldnt be surprised if Sam Young was moved to LT and Trevor Robinson was the RT or vice versa. The way Chris Stewart pass blocks, he might be a better Tackle then Guard b/c the way pass blocks he ends up in Clausen's face too much. If he's a tackle, there will at least be a pocket.

earlier this morning i was watching Mike & Mike in the morning on ESPN2, and during one of the timeouts/commercials the update guy came on with info on ND/Weis. he said some of what we allready know about Weis meeting with Swarbrick on Monday, but then he said something like if ND does fire Weis they will be aggressively pursuing Florida coach Urban Meyer.

if you read between the lines, isnt it easy for one to take that as Weis infact will be fired and they will then go after Meyer. i would think that if they were certain that Weis was going to stay they wouldnt even mention anything about pursuing Meyer.. but mentioning they would be aggressively pursing Meyer seems to hint that Weis will be fired, but that he has to first meet with Swarbrick and that wont happen until Monday.

even if ND does fire Weis and goes after Meyer, he certainly wouldnt come here to coach whatever bowl game ND goes to because im sure he would still be coaching the Gators in whatever bowl game they go to ..so firing Weis he still coaches the bowl game?
