coastereight
Okay, that site http://chuckweis.com/index.html (don't give them the hits) has said that their choice for a replacement would be Chris Peterson of Boise State. Okay let's get Mr. Peterson's resume...what do we have... OH HERE IT IS!! YAY!! Is 1-1 in Bowl games in his career at Boise State. Barely inched out a 43-42 win over Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl (2006 season) with someone else's players. Then lost to Skip Holtz's EAST CAROLINA team last year in a worthless Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. Hasn't recruited a 4 star prospect EVER let alone a 5 star. I realize this is partially because he's in the WAC but if he's so great than he should be able to pull it off. It has been done (Jeremy Childs). Has only 3 years of head coaching experience. All of these with the Bronco's in the WAC. 2006 Bear Bryant Award Winner. Sorry, I'll pass.
tdnd81
That's the problem..... Who the hell can we get as a new head coach?? The thing that pisses me off the most about Weis is that he doesn't get the kids fired up.. Golden pretty much said that in the press conference. Weis has that NFL mentality where the men don't need the Rah Rah coaching.. But in College the kids need to be pumped up.. IMO. I know its a broken record but i say give Weis one more year.. 2lakes
I quoted the article in another thread. His record is 34-3 for a 92% winning record. His ratio of BCS bowl wins in comparison to Coach Weis's: 1:0. That win against Oklahoma was one of the best coached games in the history of college football and revealed him to be a man who could: 1. Be creative 2. Surprise his opponent 3. Inspire and motivate his players He has consistently beaten teams of equal or greater talent. This year, he has a quality win against Oregon in addition to being undefeated, and will probably take Boise State to another BCS game. He has clearly developed his players, and one can expect his ability to recruit five star talent will automatically improve once he is recruiting for Notre Dame. He is young, in shape, and looks like he could withstand the rigors and stress of the job. The point about him being a head coach for only three years is valid. But consider that Coach Weis has only been one for four years with much less success. If we look at it objectively as a choice between Coach Weis and Coach Petersen, it looks to me like Coach Weis is the bigger risk.

Guest irishrick
TD81, i agree totally, one more year, IF WE DID BRING IN SOMEONE NEXT YEAR THAT WOULD GO 9 OR 10 WINS, HE WOULD BE DOING IT WITH CHARLIES BOYS FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS AND THEN WHERE WOULD WE BE, CHARLIE NEEDS ANOTHER YEAR HE IS BRINGING PEOPLE TO GRADUATE AND PLAY FOOTBALL, HE DESERVES, ANOTHER YEAR , LETS SEE WHAT THE USC GAME BRINGS . kgd1001
i have heard way too many rumors and when they start coming up all over espn and the internet it has to mean that something is going on or else it would have started a while ago. IF charlie were to be fired, i would think that john gruden would be the man. he has the biggest recruiting tool...the super bowl ring, and he is a coach that will put emotion into our players. chris peterson would be an unbelievable hire too....he is an amazing coach...look what he does with 2 and 3 start players..he wins bcs games...he doesnt get blown out like charlie does....also it will be a lot easier for him to recruit at ND....he will get the same players charlie does AND he will develop them..... either of those two would be perfect. let's see what happens first though, if the same crap happens against USC and in the bowl game and they make no adjustments than weis is gone for sure. Georgiairish
"Barely inched out a 43-42 win over Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl" Coastereight, are you kidding me, when during Charlie's tenure do you think we could have inched out a win against a team that good on that big a stage? People could have made the same claim when Meyer was hired at Florida. He didnt get 5 star guys at Utah or Bowling Green, yet he does now? Could it be that being at a major university helps. Come on, dont knock Chris Peterson, he has more wins over quality opponents then Charlie does, and in 1 less year (and he will get another quality win this year and we wont). "My country right or wrong" is fine but you have to question your country, team, school, or coach sometime or you will walk off the cliff with them. mcdougal93
I like Peterson for all the reasons 2 lakes noted. I think he would be a great choice and he ould recruit 4 and 5 star players at ND. That's hard to do at BSU.

kgd1001
it doesnt matter who is winning with whos boys.... charlie has plenty of good "boys" but cant do shit with 'em. jimmy clausen....best player in the country 2 years ago.....cant hit a wide open receiver in the endzone..... i dont care who's players they are as long as someone will not just win a game, but atleast compete in the big ones. Give Meyer THIS EXACT TEAM and he prolly wont have much better of a record, we dont have a gimmick QB for his liking
irishziggy
Chris Peterson is going to be a big time coach. He & his staff can flat out coach top to bottom in every aspect of the game. Right now they're puttin it on Fresno St who was the so-called BCS Buster this year. They're up 27-10, and 7 of those points were a pick 6 that his senior (backup) QB threw b/c it was senior night and he let the guy start lol. I want CW, but dont knock Peterson, he's gonna be a good coach. Im sure glad Kiffin's gone though b/c if we do make a change, I sure as hell didnt want him. 2lakes
34-10 after a reverse half-back pass for a forty yard touchdown (it's on ESPN2). And they just got another Fresno turnover. That means another 12-0 season and another BCS bid. Ranked ninth. Seriously, they should get a chance at the NC. At the very least, they are the reason we should have a playoff. 2lakes
Final: 61-10. Mark May (-He-One-Day-Choke-On-His-Notre-Dame-Envy) was saying how Boise State did not deserve a BCS berth. "They got their chance two years ago," he said. That's something you say when someone proves that they do not deserve that chance. But they won, for goodness sakes! What is his point, beside the one on top of this head?
