I received an EM from one of our members concerned how many here have turned on Charlie so quickly. He and I back Charlie and as I said there is nothing I can do to change others opinions as it is your right to post them.

We discvussed the assistants and clearly after signing day we should dump some. I pointed out JoePa really does not run his team. He is surrounded by some really great assistant coaches who do the necessary needed and thankless tasks and work.

Other then that we are both nervous about USC. I hope the score just stays close, which is the first time I ever said that about an ND game.

i agree i think that everyone has a good opinion , i just feel that Charlie deserves one more year, and he again will make some changes count on it but all the negative stuff is hurting recruiting, god i hope he can pull an upset at USC, 30 something point underdog , thats no big deal i think the Irish will win by 10. go Irish

If Charlie finds a way to get his Irish back on track and steal a win for us (in So. Cal.), I'm all for keeping him around, I believe he's got the smarts to do it, he has a lot of support / connections behind the scenes to figure this one out. OH and how sweet would a win over the Trojans be!

SJ, you have to call a spade a spade. Weis has the horses to run with, he just can't seem to find the finish line. After Saturday's blow out he should do what's best for Notre Dame and step down.

I don't think Weis ever understood the difference between kids just out of high school and the pros.

I never thought I would be writing these words but losing to Syracuse was the straw that broke the camels back. Not to mention Navy last year and almost Navy again this year. Weis is losing the close games and losing the games he should win.

Sorry brother but he has to go.

mike. I stick with who ever is ND's coach, that happens to be Charlie. I never expected a clear path to an NC. Not with this group of kids which takes time, and more time to devlope. Oh how I await the day the sleeping giant wakes up. I put it all on those assistant coaches to motivate. Charlie needs to fire more. Minter and Vass went out the door, time for more.

Sir John, it is what it is. He is currently our coach. And calling for him to be fired, to step down or the like is simply creating more problems than there already are.

Lets try this...hypothetical scenario, okay? Say Charlie has been advised of his being relieved of the head coaching duties. And lets just say, for fun, that Gruden, Kelly, Cowher and/or Meyer has been informed by their respective agents that Notre Dame has reached out regarding the now vacant head coaching position? Let's throw mad money at them. In fact why would we? We are after all Notre Dame...and we have a great situation going with Charlies past three classes in place.

Would the challenge be leading The Irish back to glory? Or would the real task be to please her fan base? The answer of course is both. By winning we are pleased.

Seriously though...why would any of them, with the exception of Cowher want to leave their current programs? We wouldn't be reaching out to them to begin with if they weren't currently a winner.

Man, realistically we couldn't get an equal or better in place by the start of spring practice. Are we really ready to repeat this cycle...and wait another two, three years for a new coach to bring in a new staff, and implement his schemes?

Only Saban and Meyer come to mind of a coach taking a team full of established players and immediately winning with them. And I don't think anyone of them realistically will be ready by this coming February?

We have the main piece in Charlie right here. He just needs to do some tweeking ASAP, this is an easier solution for us overall.

Im confused here, Is that keep or dump????? Sorry too many pain killes and Vodka

Feelin' no pain, eh Sir John?

Realistically speaking, in my opinion...Keep Him.

Thanks Robert I agree.
