Donjuan
Kind of weird our team didn't have practice yesterday according to some reports. I'm not sure if it was simply a day off, or if we have fired our coach. I would guess the earlier. Is it smart to cancel a practice to boost morale, or is this simply another failed ruse? I personally don't think it would have mattered much. Maybe just have team meetings all week? I'm joking but it's to the point where I don't think it would effect anything much. I know our boys need to practice, but in the words of Allen Iverson: "practice......practice......do I really need to practice?.......We're talking about practice man.......practice!" Guest SirJohn
Don, I do believe a bit back Weis decided to give the boys all Mondays off. That way they could sleep late and attend classes. I'm pretty sure that's the reason. It was in a presser I can't locate at the moment. If anyone else knows post it.
Donjuan
You're probably right SJ. I seem to remember that now. Don't they normally do meetings though, because it sounds like the only activity for football on Monday was the painting of the helmets? NicePost
When Florida lost to Ole Miss in September, Urban Meyer had his boys in full pads on SUNDAY. It was the first practice on Sunday that anyone could remember. It's called coaching with intensity, which is no doubt a foreign idea to Weis, but at least the our boys got their beauty rest on Monday. We wouldn't want to disrupt their successful routine. Guest ttown2424
I'm pretty sure Sunday is the day of the week Weis gave the players off this season. He addressed this before the season.

It's a different animal man. A day off might suit them well right now. They should go out and have fun. They're kids. I know 'cause I'm their age and I've had a full time job and had to go to classes and do homework and when you get worn out it messes with you emotionally. I'm fine with an extra day off if that's the case. They just need to hit it hard the rest of the week.
Donjuan
I'm pretty sure having Monday off was planned. It allows them to have longer practices on Wednesday and Thursday before travelling. If I have my facts wrong here, please correct me. That sounds plausible. Very well could be. I just think when you lose a team emotionally, and you're not getting through, it's time for a change. I love CW and what he stands for as a man, I just hope he can figure this out. We have to end this coaching carousel.

Guest rocketsan22
Why not give em Monday off, heck they've been taking Saturday afternoons off for two years.

You haven't been the offensive coordinator on 2 super bowl team or been to 2 BCS championships, either. I'll stick with Charlie's decision. irishwavend
Ask him what? How to deal with a bunch of whiny fans? Awwwwwwwww we lost to Syracuse... Whhhhaaaaa. Cry me a freakin river. Let the man have another year and move on with your life until we see what happens next year. I hope you have enough tissue.

I'll stick with Charlie's decision. Yeah! And don't forget that he hasn't gotten embarrassed at 2 BCS Bowl Games; or lost a record 9 games; or been beaten by Navy; or by Syracuse either. That certainly lends credence to Coach Weis's judgement.

Take ALL factors into consideration if you want to jump in.

He is working with four classes that he recruited. His Junior Class was rated in the top ten, I believe. Never have so many done so much more with so much less. He is working with four classes that he recruited. His Junior Class was rated in the top ten, I believe. Never have so many done so much more with so much less. The Junior class ranking is a shadow of what it used to be. Five star TE Konrad Reuland and 4 stars Demetrius Jones, Zach Frazer, and Matt Carufel transferred out when they weren't getting the playing time desired. We're also missing our vaunted CB Darrin Walls due to personal reasons, and TE Will Yeatman due to...well...ya know. Although a massive class and looked great on paper, ND's Jr. class was chock full of three stars as well, and they are plainly getting beat by the young guns. For example, Kerry Neal/Darius Flemming over John Ryan, Floyd/Tate/Kamara over Parris/West/Gallup Jr., Allen over Aldridge, and B. Smith over T. Smith. The cream is rising to the top. Weis's "first" class is a small 13 man class salvaged by Weis due to the limited amount of time he had to recruit as well as his obligations with the Patriots. Good points, but those classes are still his: no excuses. Coach Weis said that he should be held to a high standard: a NC in five years or he should resign (actually, I thought he said in 4 year, and haven't been able to find the original quote). It has become painfully obvious that there will be no NC run next year. The team has actually regressed in the last four games. The way we have lost, together with the losses themselves, speak volumes about the lack of progress in terms of player development and attitude and coaching adjustments. It's not an excuse, it's a fact. Charlie's Top 10 Junior class has been reduced to a Top 30 with far less personnel. And we all know there's only a few impact Seniors on the team. Guest SirJohn
If you check around Most universities have moved to Monday being an off day for their players. Don't pin this on Charlie. It is a wise decision he just copied.

That class with Kuntz doesn't count. Recruiting takes more than a year. That was Ty's last class. The class with Rhema was Davie's last class, not Ty's. Charlie's first class was Aldridge's. So, Charlie has had THREE (3) classes. Quit spinning recruiting in the favor of your argument. As far as full disclosure, I'm not related; I'm just not a sellout. I'll stand by somebody when they deserve standing by. I didn't stand by Ty because he didn't deserve it. I wanted him fired the year before, because you could see we were going nowhere, especially with recruiting. Charlie is still building this team up. Give him 4 classes and a chance for half of them to mature. His first class is just now Juniors. Wait til next year.
