coastereight
Wouldn't it be interesting if the Irish hired Brian Kelly from Cincy? I mean, that's where Demetrius Jones plays now hahaha.

ND is NOT hiring Brain Kelly! Plus, there are better coaches out there who are available who we should go after first.

I hope you're right. I was just kidding around with the irony. I don't know how many top coaches would want to come to ND though. My guess is zero to none. coastereight
Yanno, that is where Dantonio came from and Mich. State is on track too. Cincy might know something about coaches.

bstokes
I think Brian Kelly would be a great coach at ND, and I think he would win a National Title. I played for him at GVSU and he was a tough, demanding, no excuses kind of guy that gets the most out of his players and coaches or they are out. I really hope he is our next coach. Look at what he did at Central Mich with a TERRIBLE PROGRAM. He has Cincy winning consistenty with 2 and 3 star recruits, and he's got an offensive mind that we need. If hired, he would bring some serious firepower to our O and get things moving up again. There are no excuses anymore, we have the players...its our coaching. I think Weis will still get next year, but I am no longer going to back him. I was at the Navy game and we looked like crap. After this week, I have no faith in what is going on. Everyone is talking about the adjustments defenses have made to our offense the second half of the season to slow us down...why can't we make adjustments to continue or regain that potency we once had? This is not an attempt to defend Weis, but there's not much you can do when there are several times in the same game that you don't even touch a NT after the snap. Syracuse's NT went off the ball clean untouched several times during the game. Weis is part of the root of the problem with the offensive line considering he hasn't gotten rid of Latina yet. Our offensive line play has pretty much dictated how good/bad our offense is.
ND FANATIC
I don't know how many top coaches would want to come to ND though. My guess is zero to none. Are you nuts, coaches will be tripping over themselves to take the ND job. With the talent on this roster right now, there are alot of coaches that would take the ND job. This is a completely different situation than when CW came in....
irishziggy
there's no irony b/c it wont happen ND has too much money in CW right now and CW gets 1 more year. He's building a program, might not be a good gameday coach, but he's a helluva recruiter. Lets get this 2009 and 2010 class in and see how it looks then. 2lakes
The money thing: How much do we lose each year we don't get a BCS bid? How much do we lose in consumer residuals, contracts, etc? How much do we lose in terms of alumni giving? How much do we lose in prestige and morale?
2lakes
For the BCS, its 3.5M. The next two I don't know, but they are more based on perception than on how good we actually are. For the final one, are you saying prestige and morale have a monetary value? I am writing that they have a value which far exceeds the buy-out clause on Coach Weis's contract. Katzenboyer
Brian Kelly is absolutely the man for the job. Boston, Irish Catholic, offensive-minded, grew up an ND fan. It hasn't been this much of a shoo-in since Holtz.
irishwavend
I'm on the "let's move on" bandwagon finally. But, not for Kelly. There are the Grudens, Tubervilles, and Cutcliffes of the world out there who are real coaches, not gimmicks. Cincy has yet to play a real team and win. The ND job is MUCH more attractive than it once was, and Charlie is an ND guy. He'll resign if he needs to, but not only that, he'll recruit a coach for us and help us maintain continuity in recruiting. We are in really good shape to get a new coach who is Top Tier... Not second tier. If you want Brian Kelly, you get the original Brian Kelly - Mike Leach.
jessemoore97
Sorry Wave, but I'm not sure how you are putting Tuberville and Cutcliffe so far up the list. I don't believe they are exactly Tier Ones who should be getting the first offers for the HC.

Cincy had a huge lead last night and almost blew it(by the way not sure how good Cincy's D is UCONN put up a crap load of points on them, ND could lose the last three games....). I think Kelly is good coach, but i dont think ND should invest in him until they see how he does against a big oponnent in a BCS bowl. Guest holtz1080
Can the ND administration handle Gruden? I love the guy was huge fan of him when he coached my Raiders he wouldn't be afraid to come in and get the rest of the coaching staff in order. Our O-line for whatever reason just doesn't play well week in and week out and it is very frustrating. I think CW is a good coach just no mean streak in him stand up chew some butt and shake the tree. If a position isn't performing due to coaching get someone in there to make it happen.
