SDIrishFan
Isn't Golden Tate a freaking stud receiver! What a ball-hawk with a nose for the ball I agree. He should just do that. He seems too tenative on KO returns.
jon33dn
dead on regarding the returns, you have to take that return up field with abandon. tate protects himself when he senses contact. at the same time, maybe this is a choice in favor of ball security by the staff. ________ Silver surfer vaporizer Edited March 4, 2011 by jon33dn

That's what it looks like to me. He is so worried about fumbling that he doesn't run "freely." Same thing happens when he gets in the open field after a catch. atrain78255
Fine on the returns but Tate made three huge catches today...to me the one of the two major bright lights (the other being Anello) on the team this afternoon

We haven't had a good blocking scheme to spring a return man since the Allen Rossum days

hawaiiirish
twenty eight rushes for 41 yards----clausen 22 of 39 for 291-- yards--- when you are getting 13 yards a completion at a 55 % clip---- and you run and run and run again for nothing and nothing and nothing again-- its hard to gauge the level of stubborness that takes---id luv to see our season average when assaph is in as a lead blocker--- id guess probably 60 plays for 9 yards all year long--- PLUS there was hardly a SINGLE PLAY ACTION PLAY ALL DAY-- the staple of an NFL offense-- charlies health problems must be overwhelming his judgement is all i can think of

mcdougal93
Hard to do play action when the handoffs on the running plays are 6-8 yards deep. The Defense will tee off on the running back and the linemen won't be able to hold their blocks.
gipper2nd
I'm sure you all also saw that CW would bring in Asaph & Aldridge on the 3rd down plays, Syracuse would stack the box, ( KNOWING THAT IT IS GOING TO BE A RUN), & what would he do?.....................run off tackle of course!!!!!!!!!! Even old Pat Haden saw that!
domeanddomer
I am so damn fricking tired of talking about the solution to our running game that I cannot stand it anymore. There was, once again, two reasons why we couldn't run the ball. #1 Oline sucks at run blocking. Not deficient, not poor...they suck. #2 They had 8-9 guys in the box. Honestly...what the F goes through JC's head that he cannot see that and check the play off? How many quick slants did we throw to make them pay for stacking the box? I saw ZERO. THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Why CW and JC cannot adjust to ANYTHING is beyond me. I'm so mad I was actually typing really hard there. Plus I wouldn't run slants when they stack the box because if any of those guys in the box drop into zone or spy then that's a pick waiting to happen. It'd throw deep because they aren't gonna stack the box with DB's that have the speed to go deep and catch up to the ground they already lost from being in the box. They should line up in I-form more often and have their tailback go over the top with 2 other wideouts and use asaph as a blocker or a hot read. When this is realized by a good QB, it is immediate advantageous to the offense because it opens the center of the field (slant as I said) and puts the WR's in man coverage (go deep as you said). Under no circumstance, with our Oline, should we EVER run into a stacked box, yet we consistantly do it. And every time it leads to a yard loss on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1. This is an adjustment that hasn't been made all year and it is not only inexplicable, but unacceptable.
Donjuan
I wouldn't mind seeing Harrison back there as it seems he runs North the best--albeit I would worry about his loafing of the football.
jon33dn
first a note. Harrison went to my old HS, was in my brother's class, so i root for the guy. My dad has been saying this for a few weeks. Harrison did great in HS running kicks back. Obviously not the same thing, but Harrison has looked great with the ball in his hands on the fake punts. maybe, just maybe give him a shot? ________ Host and design Edited March 4, 2011 by jon33dn
