Guest TcFlint
Hello to the fans of the Fighting Irish! I am new to your forum. I live in Traverse City, MI by way of Flint (my hometown). Born and raised a Michigan fan, despite our family being Roman Catholic. However, my family has always had a soft spot for Notre Dame as well, probably from getting to watch and listen to Lindsey Nelson as a kid growing up in Flint and hearing that great fight song. Anyways, this 46 year old gets to come to my very first ever game in South Bend this weekend and I am pretty excited, even though the weather prospects are not good, nor is Syracuse (Michigan fans can relate this year). Besides Notre Dame Stadium and Touchtown Jesus, any other must see's while in South Bend? Any help will be much appreciarted. Coming to town with my niece, her husband, and my godson Corbin and I cannot wait!
IrishKevin
Hey michigan fan.... nevermind, I'm not even going to touch this one (you have already had too many problems this year)! Have fun!
Donjuan
Other than the HOF, I would stick to the on-campus activities. Here's the 2008 schedule for such. http://www.ndnation.com/boards/showpost.php?b=football;pid=69355;d=this Have a great time!
Guest SirJohn
Hey Don you should Sticky a list. We get asked that question alot. Welcome michiganfan. Glad to have an opposing point of view at DD. I apologize as Admin, for some of the fans language about Michigan, but then this is an ND board and one has to expect that. Toss in your 2 cents anytime. You will love the campus (Gods land) and enjoy the game. Be sure to take in the Baslica. On Sundays, if you have cable they show the Mass on TV. Gorgeous. Junkhead
If you get a chance, take a walk around Benton Harbor. Beautiful town I kid. Also known as Benton Harlem. It's not as bad as Gary though.

Guest TcFlint
Thank you for the kindness and great ideas. Sacred Heart Basillica is certainly a must as is the book store, and being a good Catholic, Corby's Pub too. Although I do not think I will have my Godson Corbin with me. Thank you again for the warm welcome and Go Irish!
toddrhodes
If you have enough time and everyone is over 21 in your party (meaning while Corbin is not in tow I would guess?), it's always cool to go have a big beer at the Linebacker, just off the southeast corner of campus. It's a landmark around these parts.
Guest rocketsan22
Also known as Benton Harlem. It's not as bad as Gary though. It's not??? Cripes, if it's worse than B.H., it's gotta be bad. Is there a place called Michigan City, IN? If so, we stayed at a seedy motel there (or wherever we were an hour or so out of South Bend) one ND weekend and found a butt load of pot in our room. My cop buddy tried to get us a free room because of it, but the desk clerk just took the weed away.

Texham
In addition to all the other great suggestions you've been given for your weekend at ND TC, I'd highly recommend being positioned outside the north end of the stadium when the band marches in from the quad. Just my opinion but that's the college football experience at its finest. Have a great time!
SpeedsterX
Go grab a pizza at ROCCO'S! Welcome to DD!
blarney_stank
Welcome to the board Flint. My one recommendation would be not to miss the Grotto. It is amazingly beautiful especially at night after a new snow.
Guest TcFlint
Another great idea Tc. DON'T wear any UM gear. Welcome to the board. An avid Michigan fan and co-worker said he would be watching on NBC and that it would be great to for me to wear Michigan gear and to run in the end zone and tackle the lephrechaun. I said, NOT A GOOD IDEA PAUL! We are leaving in a couple hours from Traverse City, but got several inches of snow over night and just south of us they say they got a foot of snow. We will take it easy and again, I wanted to thank all of you for the suggestions!!! Go Irish!
IrishKevin
If you have enough time and everyone is over 21 in your party (meaning while Corbin is not in tow I would guess?), it's always cool to go have a big beer at the Linebacker, just off the southeast corner of campus. It's a landmark around these parts. Also, if the game starts to get out of hand, go to the linebacker and hope to see a score by ND. It gives you chills when they play The Fight Song (notice the caps because we all know there is only one) and everyone sings along.
da coach
The Linebacker Lounge...The Joyce Lot is also a tailgate destination And that soft spot you have for Notre Dame, I bet I can figure out where it is...Considering the pounding Michigan has taken from us over the years...ZING! Sorry, couldn't resist. Enjoy your visit and the game...
