Rick, we have to go to a bowl - the extra month of practice is worth its weight in gold as far as development for the next year...if we go to a bowl we will only be that much better come spring even if we were to lose the game.

There is a lot to be settled in the ACC but the three most likely to be in the Gator (2nd place ACC team) are Miami, Maryland, and Georgia Tech.

It will be interesting to see how our D plays from here on out. THey have been pretty stout since Washington other than the second half and OT of Pitt. 4 weeks ago I would have said we would really struggle with a physical team like Georgia Tech or Miami but who knows.

It looks like we're still pegged to play Miami (FL.) in the Gator Bowl. I dont know, but this matchup might not be favorable for the Irish. What do you guys think?

I will take GT, MD, FL St in the Gator.

I know we got embarrassed by BC, but I believe the ACC teams are our best chance (outside of going to the Bob's Used Cars and RVs bowl).

excellent point, i stand corrected, i just don't want another bowl loss but the extra time will be very important to Charlie and the youngsters. good point, my friend , did u see where a win over Notre dame helps now the BC beat the FSU which was rated in the top 20. . looks like they are a top team also ,

I'll take anyone anywhere...its prep for next year..

Well, getting a school that is gonna pound us is not prep for next year. It would be a set back.

We NEED to win our bowl game in order to get a gigantic monkey off our back. We can't go into next season with this long streak of lost bowls on our backs. Assuming we get better, and end up in a BCS level bowl, that adds so much extra pressure to our coaches and players.

I definately agree. Not taking a bowl bid because of fear would be dumb. It is possible that we win after all. Although, if we do have to play Miami I'm not liking our chances.

IMO there is no team that we might play in a bowl that could pound us more than SC could in our last game. Rather get that taste out of our mouth with a bowl game and practice if we do get hammered...of course I still expect to beat SC

That the players on this team, especially the last two incoming classes, feel the "monkey" of our string of bowl losses is a debatable point in my mind. I'll take the extra practice to build for next year any day.

You should talk to a member of the Cubs then......whether you want to admit it or not, it is a factor.

And the extra practices sound nice, but if we have to face a team that is going to pound our tails into the dirt, then our season ends on a BIG negative.

I would rather miss a bowl entirely than get pounded in January.

I don't want to see the team get pounded in a bowl, but if they have a chance to go to a bowl, they really need to take it. Unlike the recent past, I don't think that we will be in a position to get into a bowl against a significantly better opponent. The ACC is down this year, so the Gator bowl my end up working in our favor. Not to mention, I would love to see our guys get another shot at UNC or BC. As for Miami, they are really in a similar situation to us, although lately they have looked a little further ahead. The team needs the extra practice that a bowl would provide. Not to mention, recruits want to see the teams they are considering in the offseason.
