mcdougal93
This game reminded me of the Bob Davie years when we celebrated wins over Army. I'm officially off the CW bandwagon and the only way I'll get back on is IF, IF he beats USC. So, this means I won't be jumping back on this year. He has some work to do and I won't be blaming his position coaches. He is the leader and ultimately, repsponsibility is all on him. We escaped with a win against Navy but SC is going to kick our teeth in. How often does a team recover TWO onside kicks in one game? Just awful. Wipe that DAMN smile off your face Charlie and start winning some games. You have some great talent but you're letting them down.
Guest rocketsan22
Exactly. YES!!! Our DB just stuck the Army player at the goal line to preserve the win! God love the academies, but I wan tto kick the living s%it out of the each and every time we play them. We can go down to the wire with the Sc's of the nation, but come on. I think your mentality is a little skewed. ND is no where NEAR the talent/experience level elite teams are, but you expect ND to come down to the wire against elite teams like SC??? I think you're frustrations are self-inflicted, as ND is not an elite team, yet you expect them to play like one. I don't care what anybody says. Navy is a fairly solid team. They beat Wake Forest earlier this year, so they are not exactly pushovers.
rdrdreamer
Mac, we might just suprise the guys from South Central, you know them as The Condoms. But after watching the fourth quarter, I can understand people thinking I don't know much. Well suprise...I will readily admitt this without anyones help. I thought for sure we'd be at least 8 and 2. But we may still come out respectible come November 29th? But with the way things have been...it would be awfully foolish to look past Syracuse. Really felt good about the running game. Even though we were bigger up front than Navy.
El Hombre
We could have won 34-7 and people here would still find a reason to criticize.
will munny
Actually if all the Weis recruiting hype is true ND should be very close if not already elite on a talent level. We better hope it's a youth thing over a can't coach em up thing.

Yeah, cause I can't wait to talk about how sh.tty we look. I like watching good football and ND hasn't been producing it lately. Don't shift your anger to the "people here" for ND's inching out wins against non scholarship players.

jessemoore97
I only saw the last nine or so minutes of the game when Sharpley and the 2nd stringers were in on offense. When I first saw the score I was a) happy we were winning but b) was disappointed it wasn't by more. We looked terrible in those last minutes I saw! Talk about blown coverages for the long balls. We looked way too undisciplined with the costly penalties at the end, roughing the passer and kicker. The refs need to figure out the goddamn rulebook and pay attention to the f*cking game better. They call an obscure batting ball penalty, but don't have a clue about how many time outs a team does or doesn't have. Isn't there someone on the field who's supposed to keep track of that sh*t?! Its about as inexcusable as granting a 5th down! I didn't know about a batting the ball out of bounds penalty, I thought it was a heads up play by Parris. I don't think he realized it was a no-no either judging by his reaction, something to maybe pass onto the players in the future maybe? Not what I was wanting to see from our team this game in my 9 mins, especially with SC looming and I don't want to take Cuse for granted either. mcdougal93
We could have won 34-7 and people here would still find a reason to criticize. Key phrase here is "could have." We could have been undefeated but we lost to BC, NC, MSU, and Pitt. The reason there is criticism is because these talented recruits deserve better coaching than what they're getting. Our line is bigger and should be stronger, our RBs are elite, our QB should not be locking on to his primary receiver, our hands team should be receiving the onside kicks, our defense should not let ANY WR get behind them with less than two minutes left........... It comes down to coaching, period. I'm tired of excuses and "could haves," no offense to you though. I wish I could be as positive.

El Hombre
Anger? Willmummy.....you, my son, are the one with the anger issue. Am I happy about the way the game ended?? Absolutely not. But I also know when and how to direct criticism. Outside of the onside kicks what did we do that no other coach (outside of Spurrier and Bowden) would have done. We were about to go up 34-7 until a Frosh fumbled the ball. And by the way, those non-scholarship players won at #16 Wake and have a few other decent wins. We better hope it's a youth thing over a can't coach em up thing. True, talent is getting to that elite status, but it doesn't take just talent. Experience and competition has to be taken into the equation as well. ND has two top 10 classes in the freshman and sophomore classes. I know the junior class was top ten, but is only a shadow of itself with all the transfers from that class. I believe it is definitely a youth deal. If we're still talking about the same thing the next couple of years, there is no more excuses.

El Hombre
McDougal, you bring up valid points. I can't disagree except for the "could have"...my point was that if we won 50-0 people are still going to find something to point a finger at. We are not an elite team but many folks want to put blinders on and pretend these are the teams of the past.

In my mind, this is another rebuilding year. Next year, I expect them to be really good. 2010 should be the year of elite status (if recruiting keeps up the way it is). If ND is playing like this a couple of years from now, I'll definitely be as frustrated as you are.

Double_Domer
It was obvious to everyone but Navy that ND was going to win. Problem with young teams is that they let up and must get that stomp on the throat attitude. Made the game interesting and now with the experience of losing the 2 onside kicks perhaps what the coaches tell them how to handle them may make more sense. Of course there are those here who say they aren't being coached - can't say for certain, but at least I don't know for certain like I did with Ty, Davie and Faust... If we were beating SC 50-0 in the 4th quarter, I would like to see us call a timeout so we could score another TD. After that I would like to see us go for two. I'm more than a little upset at the performance today and running out of patience. Glad you optimists are still on board though.
