This is truly embarrassing. Our line can't open up a hole, Claussen is locking on to one receiver, and the turnovers are killing us.

There is no way we should be getting DOMINATED by BC. We should be crushing these guys on talent alone. I hate to see this talent wasted but the our position coaches and our strength coach really stink. I think CW should be our OC but we need a head coach that can motivate these guys because they were completely flat.

Sad and disgusted.....

Damn...I am not so happy with the title of this thread nor the topic, but I cannot deny the fustration.

Things mentioned here are known to be factual...even to some like me who are sworn optimists.

In ANY other circumstance, I would have locked this or deleted it before the first reply but,,,what can I say?

Charlie's got 1 more year. That's all I can say.

Look, this was a complete disaster. There is absolutely NO reason why we were so ill prepared. I'm going to say this once...Boston College is a TERRIBLE football team. Not bad, not mediocre, not up and coming....they are TERRIBLE. And they dominated us. What's that say guys. We can be homers. We can be CW defenders. We can be my personal favorite...blind folded optimists. But in the end, none of that will hide the BS we saw tonight. There is no denying that we have totally regressed these last 3 games. There's no denying that JC has looked like complete SH-- during that stretch. Tonight he was off on just about every single damn play. This is not a meltdown folks. The current state of our team is unexcusable. End of story.

I would have to agree with you here Speedster and if CW doesn't finish with a bang then he is gone..There are to many good coaches out there right now that could come on board...But, yes i say one more year then let it happen...

Charlie is by far the best coach we will find, he was an incredible hire, I believe he gets it (he IS irish) .. I really want the best for him and the team ..

I dont disagree that charlie gets it but we need to find a staff that can develop the talent that we have. We need a top flight offensive coordinator, OL coach, and S&C coach fast.

Why is ND constantly a place for coaches to learn on the job?

"Charlie is by far the best coach we will find" Not true

"he was an incredible hire" Might still be true, 2009 will tell

"I really want the best for him and the team " Absolutely and that's why if next year looks ANYTHING like this year, he will step down on his own, I would hope. Let's pray it doesn't come to that!

I am not at all convinced Wies has to go but I have other issues.

I'm not at all convinced the short pass wasn't there. Ok they were not getting 10 and 15 yards but we rarely got less than 5 yards on a short pass. The long passes were not there. Their safeties were 30 yards deep. I don't know if Clausen needs to sit a quarter or a half until he figures this out. Maybe it is the play calling and Wies needs to back to calling the plays. In either case both Pitt and North Carolina and now BC were giving us the short passes. We kept trying to throw it deep.

We also didn't try any trick plays to get our flat team going ie reverse, halfback pass, fake punt. Holtz would do this any time we needed a boost.

Everytime we went for on 4th down we were not creative at all. And as bad as the BC offense was, why not try to punt it down on the 1 or 2 yard line?

While I think he's a great X's and O's coach, his schemes don't seem to translate to college. It might be time to make a change. I wouldn't say with CW--yet--but with at least a couple on staff. "Time for change America...."

As upset as I am (and drunk) I am going to go HOMER on this post .. this team has talent, we've all seen it, some weeks we see it in grandioso and others not so much .. but in the end .. f'it ... we will always be Irish .. we will bleed the blue and gold in the good and the bad .. but you know what .. its so much better to be IRISH (even if we are losing) than anyone else ;) Can I get an Amen!

Those fourth down calls are just awful. Remember when Quinn used to sneak it and get 3yds out of it? Good point on the trick plays.

Hey, I don't like making these threads. But enough is enough. At some point sitting passively by and being optimistic isn't helping. I really want Weis to succeed and I would give him another year if he fires Latina and Mendoza and if we can't get Gruden. But something's got to change soon. ND can't sustain these embarrassments too many more years.
