phillyirishfan
Amust read for all Americans Perhaps there are SOME out there who are beginning to get 'the picture'. The following is a narrative taken from Sunday Morning's televised "Meet The Press'. and the author is employed by none other than the Washington Post!! Yeah......the Washington Post of New York and Los Angeles Times fame!! From Sunday's Televised "Meet the Press" Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171... During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, "Stand and Face It" Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, "As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides", Obama said. "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression". And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped or something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song "I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing." If that were our anthem, then I might salute it. "We should consider reinventing our National Anthem as well as redesigning our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails, perhaps a state or period of mutual concord would exist between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. "She has her views and I have mine". Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America . WHAAAAAAAT the He... !!! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President. I, for one, am speechless. Dale Lindsborg, Washington Post

domeanddomer
I don't buy that for a second and I am certainly not a Barry H. Obama supporter. The media loves scandal and if he actually said that I bet it would be everywhere. If there is some big media conpiracy theory and he actually does do that...the people of this country will never stand for it. He now wears the pin on his vest btw but only when he knew he had to run against a war hero. The fact is that he has successfully promised everything under the sun in order to get elected and won't do 2/3's of it. Here's a crazy thought....instead of proposing a mountain of new entitlements, why not fix the two failing ones that we already have in Medicare and Social Security? I know that's a crazy idea and all...but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

rdrdreamer
I will refrain from discussing my Conservative and Patriotic views. Only because as a man who clings to his guns and religion...it may not be appreciated. As a person like many here...I will always respect the Commander in Chief...regardless of who it turns out to be.
NDJoe06
Transcript of Sunday September 2008 "Meet the Press" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26590488/ He wasn't on the show that day, he does not believe that, he would not say that. IF a person of Obama's intellect were "un-american" and they wanted to become president, wouldn't they do what our current president does? That is, lie, shroud thy shoulders in the stars and stripes, while attacking all who oppose as "un-american"? Plus the link you provided is to a website debunking the "article" as a sad attempt at rehashing an already disproved lie. "From where Winston stood it was just possible to read, picked out on its white face in elegant lettering, the three slogans of the Party: WAR IS PEACE FREEDOM IS SLAVERY IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH."~ George Orwell "1984" "A nation under a well regulated government, should permit none to remain uninstructed. It is monarchical and aristocratical government only that requires ignorance for its support." ~Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1792

rdrdreamer
Never thought we would have a President named Hussein :( Even worse would be a President that has terrorist friends :( ...Sir John is right, it's only a friendly discussion about the comrade of a 'Non-Repenting Terrorist' and a person who served his country valiantly. And I do respect each and everyone's opinion. If I were not respect your opinion as a citizen...then I would be a hypocrite.
steelirish
If you guys want to have a political debate, could we debate the issues and not the more extremist claims about candidates. I read all over the web Obama is a Marxist, is terrorist, hates america, routinely burns flags, eats young children,.... What about their stances on key political issues. Why do you support one policy over the other. I personally will be proudly voting for Obama tomorrow, but that is because of his policies not because i'm afraid of mccain. Support a candidate because you think they will do a better job. If you are curious as to why I think Obama is better suited than McCain to handle the presidency I will be more than happy to oblige. These types of things only hurt political discussion because they are unfounded. Obama not putting his hand over his heart does not imply that he is trying to dismantle america. What concerns me more is that fact that Palin was being investigated for trying to get her sister's ex-husband fired, how she changed the records so that she could charge alaska for bringing her daughters on business trips, and her lack of foreign policy experience. So there are those types of claims against all parties, some have more support than others. But I would much rather discuss the issues as oppose to these claims. steelirish
Sir John, I had no intentions of convincing anyone. All the imformation is out there for people to see. If someone hasn't made up their mind yet after all this time, I hardly believe a few paragraphs will sway their mind. Just posting my opinion on the topic.
