rdrdreamer
You were right on top of this Wave...thanks for the post. I feel somewhat bad on one hand, he is a man with family first...and I wish him good will. On the other hand...it sums up what most of us knew already..he is a good man...but short on the coaching front.
irishwavend
I think his calling is in something other than being a head coach, but he does have excellent skills that are very valuable in other arenas. Hell, he might actually do well in a admin position with the NCAA.
The Grease
You have to admit that there is some irony in the fact that he stepped down the day after he gets pummeled by his old team - the team that everyone said was racist was firing him. All signs point up for ND. Unfortunately for Washington, I cant say the same. Wasn't their AD fired recently?
TorontoCroatian
"...But I do believe we put the program in a position where it will be able to win football games (in the future)". He didn't really just say that-did he?!?!?!? It can't get any worse. So when it inevitablty gets better, Ty gets credit I guess. Ty actually is taking credit for the shape the program is in. He is leaving it in great shape for the next coach I guess Give the guy credit, he destroys programs and leaves disaster in his wake, but he takes no blame for it...he just leaves with a nice hefty pay out... Will some other team be ever fooled again? PS Is Washington racist for "forcing" him to resign?
Guest SirJohn
Drilled or not we ND were burned, It is going to be interesting to see how th Sports media handle this and our past relationship.
OddThomas
Any one want to bet whether this story makes in on Sundays edition of Sports Reporters with John Saunders and the panel?
da coach
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ap-washington-willingham&prov=ap&type=lgns I have to admit...I'm having a bit of a chuckle on how this termination/resignation is being handled versus when he was outed at ND... Still waiting for comment from John Saunders
LUCKOTHEEIRISH
Actually Washington is getting the easy way out on this by him stepping down they will not be looked at as the bad guy. Call me greedy or whatever but I wanted the media to come down on UDUB the same way they came down (and still are) on us. Oh well at least the rest of the world knows he is a head coaching fraud. hawaiiirish
ty was a below average coach and a poor recruiter-- but to be frank it was not his fault we hired him it was ours--- its not not his fault washington hired him it was washingtons--i am happy we are not where they are--- but i think there are alot of apologies due to notre dame --- its not just jason whitlock or john saunders or jay marriotti or or or its the whole cabal of offending columists and ESPN deadbeats that so smugly with such venom directly or indirectly accused ND of racial bias- when any fool could have seen how flawed ty was as a coach and recruiter at ND--we wont get any apologies of course-- but the ironic vindication of ty being FIRED the day after ND trounces them cannot be lost on all those DEADBEATS that can NEVER AGAIN go back to thier pathetic rational of why we sucked by dumping a poor coach unfairly!!!!! Guest SirJohn
Did someone call Ty a coach?
IrishGuy
Was he dropped on his head.....or did he take a lot of drugs in college? What asked if he would consider coaching next year, he said "I will not rule anything out". Does he actually think he is a good coach? Can he not see that he ran 2 programs into the ground. Washington will not be able to recover for 4 or 5 years "if" they manage to get a quality coach....but likely a lot longer. ND is still recovering from the devastation he left behind. Tyrone, you are a good person. You are liked by almost everyone that meets you. You are respected by many as a man. You are NOT cut out to coach football on any level.....deal with it and move on. TorontoCroatian
Don't worry about Ty...he is laughing all the way to the bank. He can count his millions while others have to clean up his mess...but hey, he is a "molder of men" or whatever it is he thinks he does... PS Hey John Saunders you a$$hole, lets hear your "analysis" of the situation now.... PSS What about that one lezbo prof on campus who shaved her head in "protest" back when Ty bolted to Washington...would be nice to hear what she has to say today. mcdougal93
TW seemed like a good man who did things right. Having said that I cannot come around to feeling sorry for a man who was paid more than most professors after doing what he did to our program. The fact that he lobbied for the UW coaching job while still being our HC was shameful. The honorable thing to do while at ND was to resign and then take the job at Washington. The other part of this that angered me was the whole race thing. Both he and John Saunders played the race card from the bottom of the deck during that infamous interview. Where is the apology from Saunders? There he was fanning the flames of racism with a little more charisma, pinache, and style (well maybe not style) than "Rev." Al Sharpton. Where is all the media outcry about racism now? The sooner we start judging people based on their merits and accomplishments instead of their race, the better off we'll be. Thank you Ty for proving what a worthless recruiter and coach you are. May the days of your "swinging gate" and "bend but don't break" defense leave the college football world with you. IrishGuy
I believe Forsett is the guy that we had offered, and he was planning on wearing Blue and Gold til our staff pulled his schollie for no good reason (size?)
