Semper Fi ND du Lac
I read on another board that Joe Theisman doesn’t care for JC or CW. Is there any validity to this statement? Does anyone know why/ or the jist of the situation? I’m a realist and realize that not every one will get along but if it’s true it’s a shame that such a high profile ND grad would be so vocal and unsupportive of the ND Coaches’ and players (Didn’t he not like BQ as well?). tchris555
I don't care much for Joe Theisman myself. And you don't ever want to meet Paul Hornung either. Trust me.
SpeedsterX
I used to be a DJ for a popular, local FM radio station here in South Bend and for a few years was a bartender at a few popular spots. Now, I work security at home games so I have ran across more than a few. Of the Notre Dame players and coaches that I have spoken with and met, I have not met Theisman or Hornung but all that I have met have been at least cordial (Holtz, Montana) to downright the best and outgoing guys you'd ever want to meet (Rocket, Tony Rice, Mark Edwards). Even though I never expect it, every single time I come across Tony Rice, he always makes it a point to say hello, shake my hand and even remember me by name. Almost makes you feel like an old friend although we may have spoken 3-4 times.
Donjuan
Wasn't it Hornung who had his pants fall down during a speech?
jfschellcrna
i nominate speedster for the next mayor of SB after DnD's term runs it's course. he is the truly a jack of all trades, which is precisely what we need in that position. . as for theisman, he is a horses ass, trust me on that. there is a long supporting story, but i don't feel like typing the whole thing. if i see anyone at the pitt game or the navy game i will relay it in person............. tchris555
I met Edwards a long time ago. He was an awesome guy. Also had a 20 minute conversation with Zorich when he went back to ND for law school, which he didn't have to do. He was genuinely interested in talking with you, which was great for a kid who idolized him growing up. BTW, I don't have any personal experiences with Theisman that make me dislike him, i just am not all about him, so his opinions on CW and JC mean little to me. It was also unnecessary to act like Brady Quinn having long hair at the draft was embarassing. That kid's 100% class so nitpicking him is inexcusable. Guest SirJohn
Ahahah discussion. Of all I have met hornung many times cause he is from my HS and Louisville, Yes he lost his pants that day. I remember him as drunk as hell at chural downs Ky derby drinking and snapping his fingers to some music. But here we say paul is paul and sort of leave him alone. Speedster arrest him and make the news.
Batch
SJ, is Paul still doing those Ford dealership commercials down there? Carriage Ford I believe?
Franco
I remember there was a video a while back of Theisman saying how talented and young Jimmy Clausen is (last year). I dont know, seemed like he at least respected JC for his talents.
hawaiiirish
i suppose it is possible joe doesnt like charlie--charlie has then charming way that rubs some people the wrong way-- lol---especially some older guys that may feel he is dismissive---but the idea the joe doesnt like clausen seems ridiculous-- 58 year old men dont usually dislike 20 year olds -- its just not the feeling that comes normaly-- unless they want to marry your daughter or something
IrishGuy
I have never been a big fan of Joe. It seems like every time he is on TV, he says something that rubs me the wrong way. I guess I just don't like the way he comes across.... My personal opinion is that these guys don't like to see their names moved down in the record book. They don't like being thought of as the 3rd or 4th best QBs from ND. With CW running the show, they are only going to end up farther down on the list. Hell, Brady is only going to be our most prolific (statistically speaking) passer for another year....
domeanddomer
Perhaps it has to do with the fact that CW has had Lou, Montana, Zorich, Timmy Brown et al back numerous times to interact with the team but not Theisman. To me, Theisman strikes me as full of himself. I know nothing to that nature that is factual, it's just how he comes across to me.
irishziggy
i dont think ive ever heard that Theisman doesnt like CW, everytime Ive seen him comment on ND on TV, he's said good things about CW & the team.

He emailed me shortly after to thank me, and needless to say I still have a copy of that email. He is a great guy, humble and very down to earth. Proud to have him represent ND.
