October 21, 200816 yr He sounds pretty intent on playing RB in college--although he said that if he chose to be a FB, that he would definitely consider ND and LSU.
October 21, 200816 yr I'm just... how can I remember to spell these guys names right if they come aboard? ? ,
October 21, 200816 yr some assorted info and snipits on toben opurum-- scout rates him no 4 fullback--rivals rates him no 3 fullback--scout three star rivals 4 star-- high interest in wake forest but also has a florida offer-- 6/2 or 6/3 230 but apparently is lean enough to delelop to 245 250---espn likes alot about the player but complains about both his straight up -poor balanced -style-and his lack of intitial burst--take that for what its worth-- apparently there is agreement he has very fast straight line speed at 4.5---there is also uniform opinion that he is an excellent reciever out of the backfield -- he gained as many yards in 27 catches as he did with 99 caries--- only averaging around 6 yards as a runner but does receives raves about his soft hands -- id sum up by saying his stengths are size speed and pass receiving== his weakness not really a great natural runner-- you have to like the florida offer that was 10 days ago-- maybe charlie is chasing urban here just to annoy him-- he sounds like a bit of a project but you have to like great hands!!!
October 21, 200816 yr urban meyer's word means nothing. the guy offers like 70 kids. take his offer with a grain of salt, cause he's guaranteed to pull it................
October 21, 200816 yr Am I the only one that wonders why CW and Co. would even bother offering a Fullback? We don't use them often......and when we do, we rarely actually run behind them or hand them the ball.

October 21, 200816 yr i agree -- it does seem like a fullback should be low on the list-- especially since we have 2 more RB commits and we sure need other positions especially defensive-- but on the other side-- shwapp is maybe gone or maybe 5th year-- luke is problamatic cause of his health difficulties-- they tried moving paskorz-- if paskorz isnt right -- shwapp goes-- luke is forced to quit-- then i guess we have zero fulback-- they may explain both offers to tyler and toben-- charlie may feel uncomfortable with no fullbacks--his playbook does call for one quite often even if it has not been a productive position so far!!
November 28, 200816 yr Opurum is visiting for the football Banquet next weekend....per rivals http://notredame.rivals.com/barrier_noentry.asp?ReturnTo=&sid=&script=content.asp&cid=882068&fid=&tid=&mid=&rid=
November 28, 200816 yr Author good update sully. For some reason I thought someone already posted this a few days ago or else I wouldve lol. All this boozing before Turkey Day has my mind wandering lol. As for the FB situation, I think both Opurum & Gaffney understand that CW wants an athletic FB and feels they both could contribute. They have schools that want them as the feauture back, but CW feels they'd better suit as a FB in our offense. In Opurum's case, his two biggest offers LSU & ND want him as a fullback. In Gaffney's case, Stanford will take him as either FB/HB, USC says he could play tailback (Petey Lies), and ND wants him as a fullback. If Gaffney believes Petey then he's not bright enough to go to ND or Stanford anyways. They have 5 star RBs that are 6th on the depth chart, and the 7th guy is transferring out. Too many horses in the stable, come "redshirt" your frosh year and start as a sophomore at ND. Both of these guys are athletic enough to give ND another option in the passing game and I think that's what we're lacking with Schwapp not having that versatility. Everyone knows that when Schwapp's in the game, we're running the ball.
new FB offer, guess things arent looking good with Tyler Gaffney.
