hawaiiirish Posted October 19, 2008 Share Posted October 19, 2008 no its not washington--i am making two fairly obvious assumptions first we will win our first away game against washington- in fact if we get upset out there ill paddle to molokia to join father damien-- the second is that Pitt will beat a hapless rutgers team-- so there you go--if your concerned about alot of our opponents getting beat this week --dont be-- on saturday next we will face a Pitt team that will be 7 and 1 and ranked id guess about number 14-- can we win a big game?-- we will be coming off our first road win - we will be 5 and 2 playing at home against a top 15 team-- this is a HUGE game--and a terrific opportunity to finally WIN THAT BIG GAME!!!! I don't care if it's a sexy team, or a 1 win team, we could lose to both. So importance is not really a matter for ND as it is with a program like USC. We can't afford to look farther than Washington's 100 yard rusher, otherwise, he'll do the same to us. Not to mention their back-up QB seems to throw the ball pretty decently despite his redzone inadequacies. 17th, 18th, 13th who cares? We could lose to 112th realistically. Which leads to me to this. The most dangerous teams are the ones who aren't expected to be. So yeah, the Pitt game is huge, likewise the UW, BC, SU, Navy, and USC games are too. hawaiiirish Posted October 19, 2008 Author Share Posted October 19, 2008 i dont think a win over what obviously is a "hapless" rutgers team will push them up the polls-- what i do expect is that as this week almost a third of the top 25 got beat--Pitt will have a gawdy 7 and 1 record-- had a big win agaisnt NC and if we assume another half a dozen losses or so hit the top 25 next week i would expect 14 to 17 in either or both coaches and writers-- not that it matters much to us anyhow-- beating a top 20 team is what we need and despite your picayune aside heisman-- Pitt with its 7 and 1 record and high ranking will give us that opportunity!!! They are number 17 on both AP and the BCS Standings according to ESPN.com right now. I agree with Hawaii. It is very conceivable that three teams in front of them could lose and drop below them if they beat Rutgers. (Who has been a disappointment but is really not that bad.) I can almost guarantee LSU or UGA will lose since they play each other. Ohio St plays Penn St so they could very easily lose and drop below Pitt. Also, Oklahoma St plays Texas and they could very easily lose. They may or may not drop below Pitt but needless to say Hawaii is not anywhere close to out of line. What got your panties in a bunch? I will be betting with student loan money - we are going to demolish them. Can't wait to put one of the final nails in medicoriTY's coffin.
