hawaiiirish
very interesting and real encouraging coverage on the local news tonight-- they showed manti's high school game highlights- the focus was very directly on teo-- and charlies appearance-- all the game highlights were of manti running for his four touchdowns- to be frank ,manti hasnt been featured all that much by the local tv sports- so it was unusual for them to spend the whole game report explaining how manti was being RECRUITED as the no1 linebacker even though your watching him run for TDs-- then after all the focus on manti and his recruitment comes this---" and who was there taking it all in, well notre dame coach charlie weis was in the stands to watch manti--then a long camera shot of charlie up in the stands very relaxed talking and mixing with what looked like mantis family members or coach's-- ill be real surprised if we dont get a visit-- and its also very clear that local sentiment sees notre dame in the lead for manti -- that may not mean we are -but alot of comfortable postive feelings about ND coming out here has to help! jfschellcrna
thanks for the updates hawaii. if we don't get this guy, it won't be because charlie isn't trying. say what you want, but the guy is tireless as a recruiter.................... Any Idea? this is CW's second visit. I believe the only head coach who has made two visits to date to see him play.
hawaiiirish
this was the second visit-- the first went over as terrific--there was buzz then--this time there was a real glow to having the ND coach out here!-- honolulu has over a million people but its still a very small town in many ways-notre dame coming to see our high school star just seems to make alot of local sports people proud--ND is ND- and theres alot of respect out here--its not just that charlie is trying hard -- but manti and family REALLY like him--the natural inertia out here would flow against ND but the local positive feelings should balance that out--if charlie locks up an official-- it may mean we are in the lead for teo!--- anyhow charlie seemed to be enjoying himself a whole bunch-- i didnt see manti playing LB all the clips were from him as running back-- looked sorta like a small pickup truck running over the opposition-- he is one big guy- with speed
Guest SirJohn
Thanks for clearing that up Hawaii. Two visits from South Bend to your State is a Wow. Great report from you and I appreciate it Glad his family enjoyed it as that's an added impression made I was uncertain long ago about him but as Weis says, If you want to play on Sunday you better learn to play in the cold. Please keep us posted on your observations.
