SpeedsterX
PASSING STATS: BRADY QUINN: Yr. CMP ATT YRDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SK RAT 2005 292 450 3919 64.9 8.71 80 32 7 20 158.40 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JIMMY CLAUSEN: 2008 135 219 1631 61.6 7.45 60 14 8 9 137.99 You tell ME what this means! I think it says it all and Jimmy's not even half way done with this season! The only negative that really stands out is the INT stat which is very correctible! Tell me Jimmy isn't going to win a Heisman before he leaves Notre Dame if he stays until his senior year. These numbers are real boys!! chirodomer
He keeps slinging it like he has last couple of weeks and he will "pop" 4,000 yards for the season.

Better question. If Jimmy does (more than likely) surpasses his best season this year, how does Jimmy not get even mentioned?
Pregame
4-2 record, no preseason consideration, no significant victories or "heisman moment"
irishziggy
i worry about Wins and Losses. Brady was 9-2 in the reg season and lost to Ohio State in a BCS Fiesta Bowl (9-3 overall). Lost 2 reg season games by 3 pts each and a BCS bowl by 14 pts. Jimmy Clausen is 4-2. 4-0 at home, and 0-2 on the road. We still have 4 of our next 6 games on the road. Jimmy still stares down each receiver on his quick/hot routes. If everyone wants to cream in their shorts over Jimmy's passing yards, look at the other stat. Jimmy Clausen will be the best statistical QB ever to wear the Blue and Gold. You heard it here. If he doesnt win a Nat'l Championship. No one will care. Get better every week Jimmy and lets stop the comparisons. We havent done anything yet. We beat scrubs and havent won on the road. Keep the eyes on the prize. At least 8 wins and a bowl win. Then we'll worry about the other stuff next year.
Canadian_Irish
ND needed to beat USC in 2005 for him to have a real shot at the heisman. Even then I still think Vince Young was the best player in CFB that year. As for Clausen, he is going to have 2 very legit chances at a heisman because he is basically going to be playing with the same WR/TE/RB for the next 2 seasons. On a side note, anyone know if Clausen will want to leave after his JR season if he has a big year.

I think Jimmy realizes from his brothers that he wont play football forever, so getting the ND degree also means a lot to him. I dont think he'll leave esp if we dont win a Nat'l Championship next year and he sees all the talent going into his Sr. year
The Grease
I think that it is quite the opposite. Jimmy saw how his brothers didn't get drafted, and I think that he will jump at the chance if he is going to be a top 10 pick after his Junior Year. Plus, ND will make considerations for him to still get his degree. Look at what happened to Matt Leinert. He went from winning the Heisman and the NC and the surefire #1 pick (over Alex Smith) to losing the NC and the Heisman (to Reggie Bush) and being the #10 draft pick to the Cardinals (and he knocked up his girlfriend in the process - woops!) blarney_stank
I'm not sure on Jimmy but I think a few things will impact the decion. 1. Will he graduate in 3.5 years because he came in early? 2. If we don't win a NC next year, wuld he stick around for his senior year to try again? 3. What is his projected draft position? I think those things together will impact his decision.
Guest SirJohn
I was never a JC "Hater" Go back in archives and check any of my old posts. I was backing Zack Frazer and came out the loser on that one. I did not like the way JC came in in the hummer, rings and hair tho, (By the way he has cut it again and that's a sports topic for the talking heads.) I was a HUGE critic of D Jones "The General" His mouth rannnith over and over and that sort of punk turns me off. I have no highlights available but if you saw Jones come out first game all pumped up with self important abilility then get run over then benched.... deer in the headlights....Missing team meets, not getting on the bus then coming back on the sidelines to say "By" was fraturing our team. That was a big issue then as our team had no confidence or cohesion in 2007 and I blame jones for much of that with his "ME ME" attitude. Whatever, I like JC's poise and recognizing audilbe calls and looking good. I see great things for ND If the O line can jell.

Canadian_Irish
I would still take Brady over Jimmy. Year two Clausen is owning Quinn at year two. But Quinn had a pretty weak staff his first 2 years.
domeanddomer
god, looking at BQ's season numbers though begs the question...how the HELL did he not win the heisman in '05??!! Not to mention sliding all the way down the draft board!! I would like to state for the record that, after seeing Jafatass Russell play last weekend, he is set up to be this biggest NFL bust since Ryan Leaf if not of all time. He was absolutely ATROCIOUS! I would like to state for the record that, after seeing Jafatass Russell play last weekend, he is set up to be this biggest NFL bust since Ryan Leaf if not of all time. He was absolutely ATROCIOUS! ya know, that whole fiasco just iced it for me that the ND hatred/jealously, coupled with the CW hatred/jealousy is a VERY REAL thing even amongst NFL GM's and it's clear that BQ suffered because of it. i mean, look at matt ryan this year! does anyone think BQ was not the equal to ryan coming outta college? i mean, come on! and russell...jeebus, no one could have foreseen him being a bust, right? <eyeroll>

I would like to state for the record that, after seeing Jafatass Russell play last weekend, he is set up to be this biggest NFL bust since Ryan Leaf if not of all time. He was absolutely ATROCIOUS! Worst #1 pick ever maybe. Who was a worse #1 pick? Ki-Jana Carter? Tim Couch? I've been saying for so long that Russell was just the flavor of the month. How is it that this guy was in NOBODY'S top 10 before the draft, and somehow he catapults to the #1 QB, and then the #1 overall pick?!!! All because he torched an ND defense that everybody in college football torched that year. Good enough for Los Raiders!
SpeedsterX
Is someone a copycat?? If they thought my post was good, why didn't they just link it?? They posted this http://www.ndnation.com/rockreport/2008/10/clausen-vs-quinn.html 2 days after I started the thread you are now reading. Coincidence???
