Hughes4Heisman
At the rate Michael Floyd is going, he better be a Freshman All-American when it is all said and done. So smooth and quick. The one pass he did drop, on the bomb, he had two steps on the DB and he was considered the fastest runner in the PAC 10. Glad this guy is playing for us. The Gold Helmets
I was getting ready to bump my Michael Floyd post from last week. I am absolutely amazed with this guy. I can't say enough. I really like how he uses his body to get in position and shield the defender from the ball. The kid is a natural born receiver. He does the #3 jersey an honor. The next three years are going to be amazing watching him!!!

The Gold Helmets
I meant this year and the two after. I think he is gone after his JR year

I agree but AJ Green from Georgia and Julio Jones from Bama are doing very well too. I think this may be one of the best group of Freshman WRs I can remember. IrishGuy
I think Floyd stays 4 years. It is VERY uncommon for an underclassmen to come out at ND.....VERY uncommon. When Darius declared for the draft, I read an article that said he was only the <insert number less than 10 here>th underclassmen to declare EVER. I tried to find the article, but I am too tired.......and still a bit not-sober
chirodomer
You know he's the man when our leading receiver from last year #18 is riding the pine. You have to admit we have the best receiving corps in the nation.

Now im not saying there is going to be a whole lot going early, but if ND gets back to being a real top 10 team, guys will start leaving early. tdnd81
Irish Guy i remember hearing that.. It is VERY rare, do not quote me on this but i think i remember hearing it was only 16 guys ever that have left early... you're not the only one celebrating !!:drunk:
The Gold Helmets
Well if the first five games are any indication Mr. Floyd may very well leave with every receiving record in the Irish stat book... and that is if he stays only three years. There have only been two receivers since I've been following ND football since the mid eighties that are in the same league as Floyd talent wise... Tim Brown and Rocket. KamaraPolice
If Clausen doesn't win the next two heismans after this year, it will be due to Michael Floyd beating him out for one.
reneg
We have some talented WRs, but I'm not ready to declare that we have the best WR's in the nation.
IrishGuy
If Clausen doesn't win the next two heismans after this year, it will be due to Michael Floyd beating him out for one. I was thinking about this yesterday. A lot of people believe Brady would have won the Heisman in 05 had he not come out of no where to put up those numbers. If JC can finish this year with decent numbers, and ND can keep improving, he should start next year as a legitimate candidate. Also, we could end up in the same situation as Missouri. Having 2 (or more) legit Heisman candidates on our team. The downside of this, is that the they would steal votes from each other and the result is none of them would likely win it. In order for JC to win it, ND needs to be a top 3 or 4 team next year. He will also need to finish this year with very good numbers.

I tried to find the article, but I am too tired.......and still a bit not-sober Darius Walker opted to try the draft instead of running behind a line that would have completely destroyed any possibility of him being drafted last year. not to mention, getting him killed. he knew that, trust me. He took his chances and still lost cause he wasn't good enough. As far as this heisman nonsense, let's talk more about winning consistently and convincingly each week and less about these popularity contests which will be taken care of by the powers at ESPN, who by the way, hates us.................. Guest joycel
Floyd won't leave early, it sounds like he values a quality education too much to leave.
irishndfan2
We have some talented WRs, but I'm not ready to declare that we have the best WR's in the nation. completely agree, we have some great recievers but no way do we have the best in the nation. by the way im kinda dissapointed kumara didnt play yesterday. we need him as a red zone reciever, and not playing him hurts his confidence. jessemoore97
"we need him as a red zone reciever, and not playing him hurts his confidence" The unfortunate thing this year with him is that by playing him has increased our chances of turning the ball over. I hope that he is just having the sophmore slump like Stovall his 2nd year, and will come out of his shell soon enough.
TheRizz
Floyd won't leave early, it sounds like he values a quality education too much to leave. He might graduate in 3 years and then he will have completed his goal. It's possible these days with summer school and the like. Myron Rolle from FSU - former number one defensive back recruit in the country - graduated school in 2 1/2 years. I know ND isn't FSU - but just saying.
