da coach
Add the following players and we can see that ranking go up to the top 5, possibly #1 Xavier Nixon Nysher Oliver Jelani Jenkins Mani Te'o Chris Bonds
Katzenboyer
Add the following players and we can see that ranking go up to the top 5, possibly #1 Xavier Nixon Nysher Oliver Jelani Jenkins Mani Te'o Chris Bonds While that would be a great class, I'm not sure anyone's going to pass USC and OSU this year. There classes are just absurdly loaded.
IrishGuy
USC might be passable, only because they typically do not take the full 25....but damn, their average star rating is always 4+.
Guest w.mj
No way we get all of those guys. Getting two is optimistic at this point. Oliver looks like a good bet with Bonds another possibility. Getting Bonds on campus may prove decisive. Nixon and Jenkins are both iffy at best. While the return of Nixon's father may change things, I think the odds are still low. Jenkins is an enigma and if he gets on campus anything is possible, but for now he goes in the low-probability category. Despite all the slavering on this board, absolutely no chance at Te'o. His recent article made that eminently clear. I'm sorry to be a downer, but I think we'd all be better off with modest expectations. With that said, I'm not at all depressed by this class and so long as we finish with a top ten class this year, there's an excellent class in the offing for next year. My sources are not so good as those of some on this board, but I have a few contacts who have some inkling of what's happening.

Katzenboyer
I think Chris Bonds, Nyshier Oliver, and Shaq Evans would make this a very solid class, especially in an expected "down year" after last year's #1 class. I think only the highest optimist would think we have any shot at Te'o or Jenkins. I think Jenkins in the end is PSU bound, and Te'o will stay on the West Coast. It seems that the only thing we have going for Nixon is his dad and mom like ND, but we can't rely on that, so I'm not expecting him either. Bonds, Oliver, and Evans gives us 17, and a very good class. We also have the potential to add a MONSTER class next year as long as our play on the field improves throughout the year. IrishGuy
I am much less worried about rankings this year than I have been in the past. CW has a roster full of talent now, and I just want him to make sure he doesn't whiff on areas of need. It seems like the last couple of years, he had all of his eggs in one basket when it comes to certain positions. After seeing all the film I could find on Jenkins, I would absolutely freak if he chose ND. He is in a league of his own this year at the LB position. He is in a league of his own this year at the LB position. On a normal year I'd agree with you -- but the two best LBs in this year's class will be Te'o and Vontaze Burfict. Burfict, in terms of physical gifts, could play in the NFL right now. It'll be horrible if Te'o joins USC in this class.
irishziggy
After the class we had last year, I'll be happy with a top 15 class esp with the way the '10 class is looking to explode
GwoodND
We just moved up to 12th in the recruiting ranking now with Oliver on board on Scouts..Just a matter of time..
2lakes
If we are ranked 12th now, I do not see us moving up much past 8th for the year, and that is if we do really well with the recruits left on the board. Without any data to back it up, logic dictates that, with more than half of the recruits already committed, not much changes after October 1st. Teams might move up two or three places at most. Take last year as an example. Even though our team stunk, we still maintained our position on top in terms of recruiting. We may pick up a few more quality recruits, but just about everyone else ahead of us will too. And those teams playing around New Year's will benefit the most.
