Today's South Bend Tribune provides an article about a raid last night. Apparently local authorities raided an off-campus party where approximately 40 ND students were cited for underage drinking.

When I read the article I prayed that no players were there...Maybe there is some merit to the rumor and a connection to this party....Sincerely hope not.

ND is not Tennessee, Florida or USC. Those players will likely miss the remainder of the season if true they were arrested.

Confirmed. Yeatman and Golic arrested.

SOUTH BEND — A home on Colfax Avenue was surrounded by police cars early Sunday, and 37 arrests were made for underage drinking. Most of those arrested were University of Notre Dame students, including two football players.

WSBT News has confirmed Notre Dame football players Will Yeatman and Mike Golic, Jr. were among those arrested.

Yeatman was previously suspended from the Notre Dame football and lacrosse teams in February 2008 after a DUI arrest. Golic, Jr. is the son of former Notre Dame player Mike Golic, the ESPN Radio Host and star of Mike and Mike in the morning.

At least a dozen young adults stood outside on the corner of Colfax and St. Louis Boulevard at about 2 a.m. as area law enforcement agencies converged on the residence at 702 E. Colfax Ave., said William Redman, St. Joseph County Police.

ISEP had been checking several local businesses for underage drinking, as part of complaints the agency has received, when information was obtained about the large underage drinking party.

It took several hours to cite, arrest, and transport all 37 individuals from the Colfax residence to jail, Redman said.

The investigation is still ongoing. More information will be provided once all reports are completed by all the agencies involved, police said.

The arrests were part of a joint effort to combat underage drinking by the SUDS Task Force, made up of the St. Joseph County Police, St. Joseph County Police Reserves, Indiana State Excise Police and the Indiana State Police.

South Bend officials announced earlier this month that they planned to crack down on parties around town because of resident complaints.

A weekend in early September had been quite busy as police responded to a number of calls about loud music and parties, and Capt. Phil Trent warned that special units would patrol on weekends as a result.

The ISEP are the law enforcement arm of Indiana's Alcohol and Tobacco Commission, and focus on limiting access to minors.

Notre Dame is South Bend's economy. They should show a little appreciation that the students are there and show them some leeway instead of taking them to prison...haha. j/k but seriously, this whole underage drinking thing is a bit ridiculous anyway. The one thing I agree with University Presidents about is lowering the drinking age to 18. Why give these kids records when this is such a common thing. This should be a noise ordinance violation. Nothing more...

Will " Big Muchacho" Yeatman should probably transfer to Ball State. They need another TE to replace their TE that will go in the 1st round of the draft this year. And...........BSU actually encourages fun and the Police understand that BSU is the business of Muncie.
