sorry fellas. CW has had a lot of so called "let down" games. His recruits should do better and improve under his tutelage, but they do not.

I can't understand how we can be happy saying this team is young, inexperienced and so on every year. This team is hard to watch, once again.

Rockne had two great quotes that deal with the current situation:

1. One loss is good for the soul, Too many losses is not good for the coach.

2. Show me a good and gracious loser and I'll show you a failure.

Charlie will take the fall for this teams failings, just like every other coach if he does not figure this out. GAmes like yesterday are not let downs. They are poorly played football games by mediocre teams.

Well, the simple fact is this team really is young. And yes, I might be the most critical of the team on the board. We all know that last year we played 15-17 true freshman on a regular basis and we weren't supposed to be good. The problem I had with last year was we equally weren't supposed to be THAT bad. We were inept in every facit of the game and the biggest problem was that there was very little progress from game 1 to game 11.

This year are still are you. The gripe now is that we can see playmakers developing, but it appears to be at a snails pace. It has been discussed on this board and countless others no less than a thousand times that our offensive woes rest with the play of the line. This line has certainly made some good strides in pass blocking, but once again, they appear to be totally inept at run blocking. They've added 30 lbs to their fram and STILL can't move anyone. Something needs to change. What that is I have no idea....that's why CW is getting paid millions. But the fact of the matter is that we haven't been able to run effectively for years and there have been little if any changes. Until we can run the football, we won't be a threat. With the pace of progress around here lately, you can take that hope for a NC run into Crist's playing days.

I've heard that a main reason for our inept run-blocking, is due to the lack of space between our offensive line. While that works great for pass-blocking/blitz pick-ups, it decreases the oportunities for a running back to find a hole. Plain and simple, there are no holes. Hip-locking like a picket fence, has to be a coaching thing. I would squarely put this on Latina's shoulders. I'm not sure what needs to be done here. We've won 2 games and lost 1, do we jump or remember the last 4 years of our inept run game? I do see some improvement, but it comes at the cost of dooming our running ability. I guess this has no bearing on anything here, but I hope to see something in the form of "smashmouth", one of these years.

Yeah, I noticed that the lack of space for running backs to run through was impacting our ability to run. I also noticed that the defenders seem to be tackling our guys before they can cross the line of scrimmage which is also impacting our ability to get positive yards.

An honest question here.....I noticed during the MSU beating that the announcers were showing / talking a lot about the MSU linemen. They kept showing the great blocks by the linemen that were pulling. I was too drunk to notice, but do our linemen pull...at all?

Skip is going to Tennessee, Clemson, or WVU. It's that simple.

I highly doubt on WVU, since they just gave their coach an extension this summer. Tennessee could happen although I know how much support Fulmer gets, despite his losing ways on and off the field. I don't really have too much information on Clemson other than they have Toledo's old offensive coordinator, which doesn't seem to have panned out. All in all, I don't see these three being as valid as the previously aforementioned, but who knows. :-D

Your presumed inebriation did not prevent you from noticing that no, our linemen do not pull. There is no creativity in the run game. There is no misdirection. There are no trap plays. There are merely dives and draws (without the holes of course). We have the most predictable run game in the NCAA and this infuriates me because I believe with some creativity in the run that we could be quite dangerous with a balanced attack. We could go off tackle on first down. We could play-action on second down and go deep. We could then go with a trap play where Stewart flattens a linebacker while pulling. Then when they think they figured us out we could hit them with a misdirection. Then another play action pass for a TD.

Sorry I'm dreaming . . .

Instead of talking about "Let Down games", how about talking about a "Signature win"??? Because in 4 years of CW I really can't think of a big time signature win. That is what is really concerning to me. Every big game against a highly ranked opponent we have come up short. Sometimes getting embarrassed. I would be a lot more willing to cut CW some slack if he had a few big time wins under his belt.

You know your argument about WVU doesn't work, right? First, Fulmer got an extension this summer, too. Second, Bob and Ty got extensions right before we canned them AND Ty got an extension before talking the President into not firing him this year. Extensions don't mean S#*t. Schools give coaches extensions all the time and then fire them. They just raise tuition on students to cover the cost.

Also, I am really connected to Tennessee football. Everyone HATES fulmer. Trust me. He is getting canned this year if they turn out to have the season we all think they will.

I am total agreement with this. We do need this type of win...badly. Even if we still end up with a Bowl invitation...I feel the signature win we take us further. It would be motivating and inspirational at the same time.

Forget the signature win. We've beat teams that are ranked. We've beat teams that are unranked. Yeah, we've dropped some big games, but we almost won that one against USC when nobody gave us a chance. When we had our best two years, we were working with two classes. Brady's class and Rhemas class. In CW's first year, he also had the 5th year class before Rhema's class. So if you are counting, that is Two Bob Davie Classes and One Ty class. (Restating previous threads: Rhema's class was Davie's, because the recruiting process is a full year, not a couple of weeks when you are just trying to keep what you've already been given.) Ty's 3 classes are Brady's, Crum's, and Kuntz'. CW's 3 classes are Aldridge's, Clausen's, and Dayne's.

So, in CW's first year, he won with 2 Davie & 1 Ty.

In CW's second year, he won with 1 Davie & 1 Ty.

In his Third year, he was shit with 2 of his classes (Freshmen & Soph) and 3 Ty.

Now, he is beginning to win with 3 of his and 2 Ty. (His classes don't have anyone to look up to or to mentor them. If you give CW one more year, you will see us get better exponentially.)
