ohioirishfan
I just read on Scout's that we made his top five. http://notredame.scout.com/a.z?s=109&p=2&c=791868
reneg
Great news. I'd love to land either Te'o or Jenkins. I think part of the hesitation to go out right to the 3-4 defense is we're still waiting for our NT to mature (Ian Williams) and we need some more impact players at LB (we have a few potential impact players at LB in the frosh/soph classes, but we need them to mature). IrishGuy
This is just my opinion, but I do not believe we have ANY chance with Te'o. Just looking at the article, he mentions CW....but no Corwin or Tenuta? I used to be a little more optimistic about Te'o, but there are just too many obstacles in the way. IrishGrizz
Sadly, I think we are number 3 or 4 at best, when it all comes down to it. I think BYU an u$c are ahead and we have little chance. I have never thought we really had much of a chance w him.
Donjuan
While I read all of your doubts on Teo', I will state that he is playing this close to the vest. Nobody knows. And the fact the he's trying to come out for a visit, speaks volumes. He's not coming to sunny, beach-infested, warm-weathered Southbend for sightseeing purposes. He's coming to check out the campus/academics/football. I might add that it's not a fun flight either. So would he be doing this if he's intending on staying on the west coast? I don't think so. Weis showed him the respect, and now he's returning to do the same. So chin up naysayers, look at his actions and see we're in this. Also, I think we have a tremendous edge when it comes to campuses. So if you bump into the Teo's, welcome them from their long journey!
IrishGrizz
Thanks, DJ for the positive outlook. Hope very much that what you (and all the rest of us, for that matter) hope for turns out right. I would love to see him "turn green". irishziggy
i would love him to but thinking he is playing us... IMHO I dont think he's playing us, I just think he's looking at all the options. And that he respects ND's tradition and CW's coaching philosophy & his resume from the NFL. irishziggy
there will be no teo or jenkins..................... I agree, NO teo, but it's a long way away for Jenkins. Everything's been through his dad and he hasnt even trimmed his list yet. We have everything he's looking for in a school, so like I said we'll just have to wait it out. Just looking at the article, he mentions CW....but no Corwin or Tenuta? I used to be a little more optimistic about Te'o, but there are just too many obstacles in the way. that's b/c CW is handling his recruitment personally. plus he knows what CW's done in the NFL being the OC for 3 super bowl champs. As for Corwin & Tenuta? How many GT games you think have been on TV out in Hawaii? And Corwin Brown, who knew him before he became the Def Coordinator for us? esp a kid from Hawaii. I totally agree though that there's way too many obstacles and the biggest one is his religion. He wants to go to a place where they're comfortable with his religion. I say BYU b/c he has family in Utah and most players have his religious views. or USC b/c of how many Hawaiian players went there and their tradition. Or UCLA b/c of Norm Chow and his relationship with Teo's HS and having the same religion.
chirodomer
We had better just focus on some mainland guys. Teo is all BYU. He may have said he likes Chow but the bottom line is he said his religion is #1 and unless CW can pull up some "lost manuscripts" that says go to ND then plan on him playing at BYU. chirodomer
Well.....maybe I was the only one who actually read the article? In Teo's own words. "My religion is very important to me and will be the deciding factor in my decision." How else can that be translated?
