He said that he wanted to visit us before, and that he still will. This will go down til NSD. His parents seem to like ND so I'm sure we'll be getting a visit. WR CA - Shaq Evans - official visit set for Purdue game 9/27. Good friends with CWood. UCLA upsetting Tenn got them back into the thick of things, but getting drubbed by BYU may have taken them back out. ND beating Michigan def helped. WR NJ - Nyshier Oliver - was present for official visit to Mich game DB FL - Zeke Motta - dad said he was dissappointed with our poor showing vs. SDSU (i like it b/c it means he's rooting for us), I'm sure he was much happier vs. Michigan. scheduled for Oct 4th game vs. Stanford (official visit). Looks like a UF/ND battle. DL OH - Davon Custis - was present for unofficial visit to Mich game, will take an official visit later in the year. We jumped up to the lead with BC & N'western DL SC - Chris Bonds - was present for official visit to Mich game. played with Gary Gray in HS and said that the official visit met all of his expectations DL OK - Gabe Ikard - still has us on top with Stanford & Oklahoma. Stanford's having a great recruiting class and Oklahoma is tearin' it up on the field. Going to be a long battle for his services DL CO - Nick Kasa - we snuck back into the race. I think his parents want him to go to FL or stay home at Colorado, but he's still intrigued by ND LB HI - Manti Te'o - we're still fighting to be 1 of his 5 officials, havent heard anything lately on him LB MD - Jelani Jenkins - he's going to take his officials after the season and announce at the Under Armour game or NSD, still long ways away for this kid LB FL - Frankie Telfort - we made his top 6 and we'll most likely get an official visit after his season LB/FB NJ - Glenn Carson - made an official visit for the Mich game, has PSU/Rutgers as his top 2 schools. Loved ND's game atmosphere, but was it enough to join his other two?
Donjuan
Good information Ziggy. I wonder why all is quiet in Hawaii with Teo'? I know in his interviews he seemed pretty evasive.
D Fence
Ziggy - great info. Boy, if you just scan down the list you don't see a lot of people who love ND so much they will probably commit soon, but I'm thrilled to hear Bonds had a great visit. UM was a good game to have kids come in for (outside of the rain), and I'm sure the atmosphere was great. It will be nice to see us win some of these close battles for a few others like Ikard, Kasa and Jenkins in the end, and of course I am hoping we land Evans as the stud WR in this class. Guest heismancaliber
I've heard N. Oliver is going to commit to the Irish somewhat soon
IrishGrizz
These things are so fluid. Thinking a guy is solidly in your camp, only for time to change his mind (lalota & shrive & schofield). I hope we get Bonds, and either Custis or any of the other big guys on the DL. I really think we get Evans and hopefully Oliver. Nixon would make the O line for me. I also hope we get 1 more Defensive guy out of Motta, and the LBs Jenkins or Curtis.
rdrdreamer
Nice job as always Ziggy. I feel good about a couple of the ones left. Again...thanks for your efforts.
TheRizz
I've heard N. Oliver is going to commit to the Irish somewhat soon Heisman - Thanks for posting. I like your insights - especially since this one is pro-ND. Also, weren't you the poster that said S Henderson was a "lock" for ND? Are you still hearing the same things - pro-ND with him??? hawaiiirish
i only expect 3 more-- with 21 juniors assuming walls comes back--17 sophs- 23 freshman--thats 61--assuming 3 5th years and 17 recruits--thats 81 schollies--they have big plans for 2010-- and there are alot of players in that 21 man junior class that we will offer a 5th year-- so 17 recruits would be the best bet this year --right now id say -- evans -motta-- and ikhard-- then that gives us 25 schollies for 2010 assume 2 transfers or such-- and thats 27 take away 5 5th years from wegners class-- and we have a nice 22 to give for a full boat in 2010--- so we really cant afford many more then 3 or 4 more this year!! IrishGrizz
From several other sites, i have always seen the target this year as 20-21 schollies. I just cannot see the team not take someone this year to keep the numbers down for next year just in case.
OddThomas
From several other sites, i have always seen the target this year as 20-21 schollies. I just cannot see the team not take someone this year to keep the numbers down for next year just in case. Three reasons: the players they wanted committed elsewhere, there aren't many players left they feel will contribute much, and they think next year might be a better year. All of the above is supposition on my part.

The much talked about updates over the last few weeks on Henderson probably have put the word lock to bed, but I think ND is in the best position of any of his main schools
IrishGrizz
Probably why "a lock" is so often the kiss of death, when used so far in advance. Even guys that commit early, you then have to worry they will be poached by someone over all the extra time you have to wait.

irishziggy
I thought he was still planning on Tennessee even though he decommitted. how many times do guys who decommit actually end up going back to their original school? it's very rare. tchris555
we need custis. that kid is a hidden gem with serious pash rush skills in his future. I don't want to see him at BC. crucial that he makes a return trip to ND, he seems to really enjoy his visits everywhere.
Guest buffaloirish
I think that a guy like oliver is very rare to Notre Dame and is very important to get. He seems to have the speed and elesuviness to be a guy that we can use like Percey Harvin as a wr and rb. The college game is quickly evolving where height isnt as big of a factor as speed can be. We have the tall guys in Floyd, Kamara, and Walker now we need some burners like Oliver.
