Lalota only played 1 year of organized football. He has the measurables but not a lot of experience. Like the Beav says "Maybe we dodged a bullet"??????

Also, I have always been skeptical of his fit in a 3 -4 defense. Our 3 down linemen need to be closer to 300 lb's or we end up with the crap we have right now on the right side!!! We need more guys in the 280 - 290 range for DE's and true 300+'s for Nose. Our linebackers are the true tacklers and the outside LB's need to be fast undersized DE's.

Welcome to the DD Blitz. :-D

Our 3-4 defense is just a label. Basically, it should be called a 4-3 defense with one of the front, having the ability to rush without putting a hand down. One of the four linemen, will be undersized to create a mismatch with the bigger, less mobile offensive lineman. Too many times, we get cought up with the 3-4 terminology, when in reality, it's a flexible 4-3.

Yes that is the current form of our defense, but I wonder how much of that is because of available personnel. If we look at the DE's we brought in last class, they are monsters. Perhaps Corwin will take us down the road of a more traditional 3 -4 once recruiting provides the available bodies???

Who knows, but I just wanted a chance to say "We really dodged a bullet on that one".

When you miss on a kid that has his size, speed, raw talent and is still a good student I wouldn’t say we dodged a bullet.

Who was the poster that says…good luck to Lalota…..in his studies!

That was me, thanks for the footnote, Semper : )

Well, if Lalota is gone then maybe opens up the door more for Custis, Bonds or Ikard if he ends up a DE vs. TE...

Lets take care of business tomorrow and things will continue to fall in line....

If you think he really runs is posted forty times at his height and weight, I have real eastate for you to purchase in Florida. So what, we lost out on a recruit. We have won way many more battles againt U of M than we've lost. The real test is this Saturday, not some high school senior announcing his college destination. Have you all forgotten the absolute beast we received last year from the west coast? He has yet to make his impact. I believe Lolata saw our depth and went running. U of M has gotten 1, I repeat 1 DE in its last 2 classes.

Calm down, Bonds is the better prospect anyways.

My gosh, The kid has exactly 1 year of organized football experience. I don't think anybody knows exactly what Lolata can become (good or bad)!

Look, I agee he would have provide valuable depth but he is not a prospect of need. We need to keep the RB from Cal and Stockton. The 3 - 4 demands an excellent nose tackle, that is what we need to focus on (DEFENSE)!

Also, I remember when we always had a game changer (ala Rocket). We need game changers. So many times lately we have missed out (don't get me started). We need speed and I don't see it in this class so far (WHERE ARE THE GAME CHANGERS).

I think Floyd (while not a burner) is a game changer but that was last year. Hopefully there is one in the 2010 class that wants to play for us (please please please).

Jenkins and Shaq are elite players, I am looking for the Ted Ginn, Reggie Bush, etc. 1 player who the opposing team has to account for on every play. They are rare and only come about once ever two or three years. The next one needs to become Blue and Gold!

As a side note, I don't think one of those exist in the entire class of 2009. I don't know much about the 2010 class to say if one exists or not.
