I've been watching ND football since the 50's and finally made it to a practice, free parking and free admittance and a gold seat. Hard to imagine eh.:o I needed a football fix and this was a beautiful day to get it.

Anyway there were some very impressive performances and some holes to be fixed. The good news is that Clausen looked sharp and has a gun. Crist looked ok at times and Sharpley only occasionally. The centers and gaurds are bigger and looked excellent, but once again the tackles especially left tackle looked overmatched at this level. The second stringers don't look like they are going to have much to offer as far as help this year.

All the receivers were outstanding as they are big, fast and caught everything. The real show was put on by Floyd as he blew by the secondary for a 70 yard TD and a second was barely overthrown by Crist. He caught everything thrown his way.

The tight ends are massive and they too caught everything and impressed the crowd. Kyle Rudolph is a beast plain and simple. Very athletic and great hands.

I was most surprised by the secondary, how big they are and how quick. Bruton of course and McNeil played well getting plenty of praise from not only Charley but Corwin. There was another kid #12 who played on the second team defense, don't know his name who is a player, 2 interceptions and several knock downs.

There wasn't much of a running game but Allen looked sharp the few times he carried the ball. No one else but Hughes picked up much yardage.

The best part of the entire 3 hour session was watching the freshmen, especially on defense. They completely shut down the third team/second team offense. By far the most impressive player out there was Kapron-Moore. He may not make an immediate impact but down the road he's going to be special. The entire freshmen defense looked very athletic and got to the ball.

Clausen, Rudolph, Moore and Floyd really grabbed your attention. Of course I realize this was just one practice but if we can get the OL problem fixed this is going to be a really good team. The weapons are there.

Oh Charlie did announce that Syracuse returned most of their tickets and they are now available for sale. So all you that want tics this may be your chance.

The Domain and all members thank you so much for a first hand report OddThomas. :) Man a Gold seat too.

Great update on the practice, #12 is Robert Blanton.

I'm pretty sure that was Deion Walker, #1, and not Floyd that caught the long TD pass.

Oops if Walker was #1 you were right. I was going by what some guy was telling me that claimed he knew all the players. Duh how embarassing. LOL whoever it was wearing #1 was the offensive star. Hmm the guy seemed to know everyone he claimed Floyd requested that number.

12 was Blanton eh, he's going to be a big time player if not sooner later. Thanks for the clarifications.

Great stuff. Thanks.:-D

I'm pretty sure Floyd is #3. Deion Walker started out as 17 or something like that but changed to 1 after DJ Hord left the program.

Thanks for the report.. much appreciated.. opening day can't get here soon enough..

Thank you OddThomas from the Domain for sharing those with us. :) Are you sure your not Lep in disquise? Those are great Pix. :)

Sweet job on the pics, Odd Thomas. :D

Has anyone noticed how great the field looks compared to the joke of a turf we've had the past few years???

It will be nice not having players slipping on every play and mounds of turf everywhere...

That was one of the first things I noticed, how nice the field was and how short the grass was cut. I'm thinking its going to be cut shorter this year to take advantage of our speed.

great pictures , field looks ready, good report of the team , you can sit in that gold seat anytime again next year, ha go irish

I am still sad about Walls. He would have been great this year.

Nice Work Odd!! Great update and Pics!!! Can't wait guys!!

What number is Montana wearing?

#16 and he looked like he belonged out there.

Just wondering if anyone knows if todays practice is sill going to be open to the media for its entirety. I had heard about it a couple days ago and have not seen anything about it yet. Thanks in advance if anyone knows anything.
