July 14, 200816 yr LT and also DT and DE to build up depth. I would also like to see another speed receiver like Tate. One who can spread the D just with the threat of his speed.
July 14, 200816 yr Author Another big DE or athletic Defensive tackle who can bump outside to DE in the 3-4 is my biggest wish...Having a dominant front seven is critical to any title run...yep..i said it.
July 14, 200816 yr OT - you can't have a consistent offense without good OT play, and we don't have enough depth to get the best out of our offense.
July 14, 200816 yr LT, how did that not make the list? I agree. The list should have been: 1. LT 2. LT 3. LT 4. RT 5. DT 6. Other Edited July 14, 200816 yr by SDIrishFan
July 14, 200816 yr OL, OL, OL. Look at what the teams w/ the best OL do every year...ever heard of OSU or USC?
July 14, 200816 yr Since everyone else is voting LT, I'll vote for QB. Note that while I definitely think we need to hit OT hard, I am a bit of a worrywart at the QB position. If Sharpley opts to graduate and go on towards a baseball career, I'm not that confident in a depth chart where our #3 is a walk on (and seriously, no more Nate Montana debates, my blood pressure can't take it). We saw what happened to UCLA. Not sure there is a guy out there that we can get back in with, but I'd love for the staff to keep in touch more regularly with Drew Allen. Maybe dish out D.J. Hord's scholarship slot to him.
July 14, 200816 yr I don't see us as being in a great need at any one position like we have been ever since Coach Weis got here. I think we may finally be to the point of only needing "great players" regardless of position. I am not saying we don;t need offensive or defensive linemen, linebackers or the like, just that we have finally established enough depth across the board that we don't have one position in desperate need. Every year we need offensive/defensive linemen, backers, corners, wideouts, running backs, etc.. I just feel that we are now at the point where we can mix and match a bit. Perhaps "athlete" would be the best description. me
July 15, 200816 yr Just like with your other poll coach, I'm confused that OT wasn't on the list. It's as if you pick everything but what is most needed and add them to the poll. OT is easily the most needed position in this class. Why was it left off? I'm confused especially since you started the thread on the LT debate.
July 15, 200816 yr DT-Corey Adams or Will Campbell. Will is listed as a soft verbal on scout and Corwin is recruiting him hard OT-Nixon and Martin
July 15, 200816 yr OT gets my vote. We need some more depth/competition if we're going to really have a stud Oline. The OG's we've got are great.
July 15, 200816 yr I say OT, we need Martin, Nixon, and Ward. ND23, I thought Campbell was strong to Michigan, is there any word that Corwin can make any breakthrough?
July 16, 200816 yr Campbell said publicly a while ago that he is a solid UM commit but will be taking a few visits to see some other places. Per Scout's definition that is why he's a soft verbal. But he's insisting that he's solid.
July 16, 200816 yr Let get him to visit then and see if he still wants to be a solid committment. Lets invite him for Michigan and when we kick their tails see if he wants to remain solid.
July 16, 200816 yr Will Campbell is the real deal. I just see him like Martin last year and flirting with ND and staying with Mich.
July 16, 200816 yr While I don't think we need a 5 star QB, I certainly think we need a true backup. A 3 star or someone who could be an emergency guy...
July 16, 200816 yr Definently defensive end IMO. We brought in 3 DE's in last years class, but two of them are more of a DT/DE hybrid (Johnson/Cwynar) and KLM is the only one not in that mold. We don't have any DE's committed in this class and we don't run the 3-4 exclusively in every game so I think it's important to pull out a couple out of the remaining guys on our board (LaLota, Roh, Bonds, Inkard.)
What position would you like to see ND address in this class ??
