irishziggy
http://notredame.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?school=55 Cierre Wood - 5 stars Alex Bullard - 4 stars Marlon Pollard - 4 stars Theo Riddick - 4 stars Tyler Stockton - 4 stars Dan Fox - 4 star Carlo Calabrese - 3 stars Jake Golic - NR Nick Tausch - NR (#2 Kicker in the nation) Ben Turk - NR (#1 Punter in the nation) One 5 star player & Five 4 star players plus the #1 Punter and #2 Kicker in the nation. It's a pretty good recruiting haul so far esp since this is the class that's said to complement last year's great class. While it's obvious we wont get another class like last year, it's great to see that we're getting good ND guys with some talent and some national recognition. SpeedsterX
Unless a couple of miracles happen, this years class won't rank that high nationally simply because of the schollies being used for punter and kicker. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely believe those schollies were well earned and love knowing we got those two guys! It will affect the class ranking though as we are having a small class this year. If those two were star ranked for their position, we might end up with a top 10 class. I guess it could still happen though. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed. potownhero
I was under the impression that at least one of the ratings sites factored in an overall 'needs based' valuation together with the star scoring system to formulate their team rankings. If this is the case, the specialty-schollies for Turk & Tausch may not have as adverse of an impact on team ranking as a similarly rated non-specialty player. Can someone throw me a bone on this one and let me know if I am way off base here?
SpeedsterX
It's possible but I haven't heard that. It would make sense though, huh?! LOL!!
D Fence
If we pulled in a Watt, a highly rated WR, a few of the DEs we've offered and this all sticks in NSD, I'd be really happy with this class, all rankings aside. We've filled a lot of needs and do have some really good players at those positions. Like a lot of others, I'd like to see a QB this year, but that may not play out for a while. da coach
Eiffert (3*), Watt (5*), LaLota (5*) and EJ Banks (4*) will solidify the class, but if we can hit on one of the following, we will be a top 10 class fo sho'...possibly top 5. Here's the thing with me. I don't think we'll have enough space for a top 5 caliber class as the major sites rate things, but I do think we're bringing in quality. 6 of our 8 rateable recruits (take the kickers out of the equation, because they're graded on a totally different curve) are 4 star or better; while we may not have a Sabanesque mondo sized class, we'll definitely be contributing to the overall caliber of this team, even if the dose this class gives is smaller than last year's. Guest SirJohn
Q.....Aren't we arguing over myhitcal rankings? Get sad as fans if they are poor get happy if good? We seem to be in a NEEDS based mode imho AT ND. What does ND need to improve on the field for itself? 5 star commits that desert to the NFL in 1,2,3, years does not help. ND basiclly says "get your degree first." The worlds made up of spoiled athletes with more money then they knew possible but know Zilch. They are as dumb as they are when they came from their neighborhood. Millions of money gone divorces. see A Rod. "POOF gone!"

Guest ndmike2003
I would not go as far to say that I love this class. However, given the pathetic performance on the field last year, I am impressed with the staff's ability to bring in good talent. However, there is no denying that the caliber of recruits coming in this class are a definite step behind where ND found itself last year. All that one has to do is look at offer lists. There are very few instances of ND beating out UF, USC, etc. like we've experienced the past two years. Hopefully, this class fills needs, the team gets back on track next year, and another crop of top-5 talent comes in. Sir John, I am shocked at your attitude towards 5-star athletes. First, they cannot leave a program until after 3 years. Second, have you taken a list of the NFL draft picks that were juniors in the past few drafts!? You may want to check out that list and qualify your statement! Go Irish.

Dude, I back your sentiment on the 3 and out players, but the divorce thing and the millions out the door bit is strange...take a nap. And I think we can take in one or two of the blue chip 3 and out kids per class (#7)...
Guest nexus11313
Shouldn't Jelani Jenkins be added to that short list? He's a top-10 player and one of the top 2 LB's in this class... and I was under the assumption that ND is near the top. Am I incorrect? From what I've read, there has been little to no interest expressed from JJ as far as his interest towards ND. Sure, he appears to be a "ND Guy" on paper, but that hasnt translated to actual interest in ND.
Irish Chris
Is it just me or does anybody else think Sir John deserves preferential treatment? There's no need for ANYBODY to speak so openly towards him. He's fricken DD royalty fellas. Sorry SJ, but I had to say something.
