Great pick-up, lets hope it starts to get the ball rolling again.....

BTW - I edited the title of the thread so everyone understands the content of the thread..

SWEET! another tall talented CB.

Milton Knox...see this is what you were supposed to do last year...

Although with C. Wood in the Blue and Gold, you probably made the better decision for yourself...

also on rivals now.....kid is irish

Knox's situation was tied to his family. It is disappointing that we didn't get him, but it may have been the best for his football career anyways.

This does give me a bit of solace though. If any of you have II membership and didn't read his film review, go do so now. They absolutely love what this kid brings to the table. I like that he's a no doubt CB prospect. If one of Blanton/Slaughter ends up at safety, getting a guy like Pollard will be real big. Excellent get, and I hope this gives us a little inertia on defense.

i've heard good things about this kid but haven't seen any film yet, so what can you guys tell me about his game.

Great news. We needed a corner in this class, and nice to see another pickup in general.

Great news and welcome to DD mooney. :)

This is a huge get! Marlon is a stud with 5 star potential IMO.

He's 6'1" and 160. Good height for a corner and apparently has very good cover skills.

He's got good height as you've mentioned. Despite being 160, he's not afraid to mix it up against the run. The big plus to his game is the fluidity of his hips. He looks real natural in the backpedal as well as turning and running. Perhaps near the tops in the nation; a pure cover corner who doesn't shy away from contact.

The big reason he's a little outside of the top 100, and not a top 50 caliber player mostly stems from his lack of bulk. He's not a flat out burner, but he's got good speed. Knowing Rivals, the 4.6 may be holding him back too in their rating, but its not like his feet are stuck in mud.

All in all, he's a great get. Depending on who you talk to, he's viewed as good as or a better corner prospect than Walls (Darrin has the edge in athleticism, but Pollard has skills that Walls has had to work on, not to mention playing the run).

Great pickup. Great news. I am excited about this commit, that's for sure. To echo what others have said, I've heard he is a top 50 player but needs to add bulk. If he can do that he will definitely move up in the rankings. But, they Irish definitely picked up a good one today.

Man am I excited for this upcoming season!!! Go Irish!!

Great news!!

Yea, 160 sounds like he needs some more bulk but if he's a 4 star like that then looking forward to his potential!

He's pretty young though too, he will only be 17 when he graduates. I can see 20 pounds on him very easily.

Anyone got film on him?

Calves,

good synopsis, but i might even disagree about Walls being more athletic than Pollard. Don't get me wrong, if he becomes as good as Walls i'd be thrilled, but looking at his long jump numbers suggest this kid has serious springs.

I think Prister referred to him as a "bounce in his step" player, which reminds me of Rhema pre-knee injury. Even watching him walk around campus u felt like he could just jump right over you from a standstill.

Good point. The gap between the two isn't as big as you'd think.

Calves - BTW, I hope this gets us OUT of our inertia on defensive recruiting!! Just had to give you a hard time on that one!

Great get! I too am excited about Pollard and the fact that we are bringing in bigger and bigger DBs.

Anyone know whether this is considered a solid verbal or a soft one? Knowing that he was only soft verballed to UCLA, I hope he get CW's philosophy on committment... that means back off UCLA!!!

I lost more than a few brain cells this weekend. Still recuperating :D.
