Just watched Zeke's tape. The kid is frickin' relentless. Non stop and very tough to stop. Never saw him in coverage, was always in the box or at the line but very impressive. At 6'3" and 209 could grow into a possible LB and definitely has the mentality of a LB.

BG just put up his video. If you are a member at BG go take a look. I was impressed with his in-the-box game, I am interested to see him in coverage.

^ Good call. Motta is a spectacular player...one of the more underrated recruits in Florida this year. Excellent student and is a high character kid. Whichever school gets him will be getting a good one.

I agree. I think that he might not have the best speed of any kid. Or might not seem as dynamic as some of the other safties. But his all around game. Coming off the edge, his character, his grades, his interest in education. All point to him being a great college player on and off the field.

I see from Rockne's thread that he is scheduled to visit this weekend? Is he likely to get an offer this weekend and if he does is he interested enough to commit or do we have a large amount of ground to make up? Of the big 3 in Florida - only Florida State have offered. The remainder are high academic institutions - Stanford, Northwestern, and Wake Forest. He sounds like the type of student athlete who would be intrigued with a ND offer.

i watched his film ..he will be a great OLB in our new blitzkrieg scheme...he is an explosive athlete...reminds me of PAT TILLMAN...who was a walkon!!...i think nd want to get safeties and convert them to linebackers

i hope he gets an offer too, but i hope it's for a safety spot (for now).

I'm just not sure how impressive a guy can be at a camp when his game is predicated on physicallity.

Harrison Smith type of situation possibly?

Eh... not quite. Maybe the situation as far as S/LB tweener, but I wouldn't make a player comparison. Motta is a good recruit who looks like an 8th man in the box type safety, perhaps a 4-3 OLB; you get the feeling watching Harrison's tape that he could be truly special. And the staff making a new hybrid role for him as a "redshirt" freshman just to get him on the field speaks to that.

I would agree with Calves on this one. Not a good comparison. Harrison Smith is the freakish athlete while Motta is the "in-the-box" safety. Motta is a classic strong safety while Harrison is the free safety.

Harrison has way more speed and athletic ability. I also agree too that Harrison smith has that something "extra." His intangibles just scream special.

Go back and look at harrison's high school film. Absolutley amazing. I have no idea why harrison was not a 5 star coming out of high school. Motta might be a great get for us in the end but a comparison of their high school film shows a world of difference.

I like to think of it as, Motta is a good safety prospect. Harrison is a great football prospect. If he wasn't a 4 star safety prospect, he'd be a 4 star WR prospect. Wherever they've lined him up, whether in HS or so far during practice at ND, he's been successful at.

Ok, enough hijacking of Motta's thread on Harrison's behalf.

While I like safeties that have a little more of a coverage pedigree, I think an offer this weekend may be in order. Especially if they're talking about Mike Jones being more of a LB recruit than S. We aren't in the lead for any of our S offers right now, which I think is a position being slept on as far as priorities go (Bruton graduating, strong odds Herring won't be back, and the impending graduations of Sergio, Gaines, and perhaps Gordon).

Link please?

Wow! The first play in that Rival's clip he got an WR Arena league jump! Kid is a gamer! Why no offer?

Per Rivals, Motta has been offered.

I like the name. Wasn't their a boxer called jake LaMotta?

Per Rivals, Motta has been offered.

And so as to clarify, no word yet on whether it was at OLB or S. My guess is S, but who knows.
