These Sit Down Alumni need to be told to shut up on that part and be more vocal cheer leaders. It needs to be addressed on the PA system. I don't care how long they hold a ticket depriving our Subway Alumni of a game view.

Tell them this is FOOTBALL not a ping pong match. If they don't understand enthusiasm for ND they have no right to be there or deprive another for cheering that's my personal point of view. We sell out and tickets go for Mega bucks surrender yours someone who really cares will buy them. They don't own ND we scattered fans do.

Yeah, this isn't a symphony. I hate the SEC but at least they stand the whole game and cheer. I am tired of this, too.

How about this....If you want to sit you sit on the sitting side of the stadium....If you want to stand you stand on the half that stands the whole game...or something of like that. Im sure we have 40K fans/students that would stand the entire game while another 20-25k would want to sit and the other 15-20k are opposing fans.

I agree. ND should be as loud as it was for USC '05 almost every game. Maybe cheap beer and shots sold along with the delicious polish sausages would help. There are some geezers, but if you can bake in the sun or freeze in the cold for over 4 hours, you should be able make some noise and stand for more than 5 plays. Sometimes I feel as if I am one of the only alumni that understands that ND is ND because of its millions of fans who never went to school there (DD Is the only place where subway alum get some respect).

This is a pretty serious issue! I just wish that people would show more excitement and be loud, cheer when deserving or needed. Its not terrible yet, but if not careful we will begin hedging slowly toward sounding like the big (empty) house.

I agree, i have been told multiple times to sit down, or be quiet, while ND was on DEFENSE and our players were motioning for us to be louder! Maybe they're blind and think they were telling us to be quiet? idk. It's very frustrating and needs to be dealt with. A football game is supposed to be loud. period. end of story

There are way too many old farts who need to give up their tickets.

Same thing happens to me nearly every game. Problem is I was offered the ability to buy season tickets off a friend of a friend for 4K for two really good seats. No yell your ass off and get hammered fans can afford that. The only ones who can are the "let's fly into south bend for the afternoon take in a half of ND football and leave" fans......

Yeah, i understand the frustration. My family has had 4 season tickets since...1942? and now we have like 7 "families" within our family that split the tickets and the cost and even that is getting way to expensive, so the only people that can afford them are the old Alum who just sit there like it's a tennis match.

What about the poor folks that aren't able to stand for long periods of time, do we tell them to stay home ? or watch tv, I agree this is a problem, but i don't think its such a big deal , most people also like to yell and cheer just like I do , but you just can't ignore the alum folks . go irish What say you ? :)

I was shocked the first time I went to a game and the lack of participation that took place. I love to absorb the excitement of the game and participate in the frenzy...... My brothers and I have traveled to other venues to see games, and the crowds are 'crazy'. It makes me jealous. I love the student section....they look like they are having a great time. Looking forward to my next visit in the fall to the Michigan game. I'm hoping the crown is hopping!!!! Go Irish...

I actually have had no problems sitting where I sit (South endzone). It's kind of like the dominoe effect, when the front row stands, cue the second row, and so on and so forth. We do have a large contingent of our opponent's fans sitting behind us but I havn't had a problem in 15 years. (knock on wood) My grandfather has been there since the sixties and he had polio and can barely move, yet he musters up energy to stand. So I guess it depends on where you sit. 8)

I know this is terrible that i don't know this but the south endzone would be opposite the tunnel, yeah?

I sit in the same area. I mostly have been yelled at when i happen to go to a game not in my family's seats but there have been times where my family and i stand up and we get yelled at by ushers to sit down, even though we're on D.

IMHO

This is a pain in the (censored Issue) I understand these "season ticket holders" Got the money, moolah and el crapola" and feel they OWN IT." Needless to SAY JUDGING BY E BAY TICKET PRICES WHO NEEDS THEM? I once said the fans rule not Boosters. The Ushers? Oner of our DD's members Dad, I think was one once, but they too top to bottom need to be re trained or sorry, fired as this is a football game.

DonJuan explained his Grandfather has Polio yet stands, can you sit downers do less?

Coach Weis on his many trips to Schmooze the Alumni need to explain to those boosters, cheering ND in the stadium is different from writing a check in Pismobeach. I advocated what ever ole time shluck on the PA tell the crowd to stand and cheer. You know it really breaks my heart when I see a Penn State White out and then have an ND game. Are the crowds any better or younger then ND? ND crowds, Users and Admin suck during a game. Get with 2008.

Completely agree with you SJ, well said. The crowd needs to fuel the team.

ve missed you in our shooting gallaroy here at times, It do get busy for Mods. Enjoy :D

I would also like to see a stadium full of fans who want to make some noise. Let's be realistic, though. Notre Dame has an extremely large fan base. This includes many older fans who truly love ND, but may not exhibit the exuberance we would like to see. I say let them sit if that is what they choose to do. It is my belief that some of the older fans feel it shows a lack of respect to stand in front of them while they are trying to watch the game. This is where I must draw the line. It is a football game and people are expected to get excited. If you want to see the game, then stand up when you cannot see. If you do not feel like standing, then have a seat and zip it!

I think Notre Dame fans are generally better than most at supporting their team even when it sucks! I must say that this lack of noise has become a bigger problem more recently. I honestly feel like last year's abysmal season contributed significantly to the quieter crowds. Does anyone really think these less participatory fans were absent from that crazy USC game. Eventhough I personally lose my voice at nearly every game I attend, one could argue that we need a little more to cheer about as of late. Notre Dame will never be the loudest university, but all of us have felt the aura that gives us chills every time we step foot into ND stadium come fall.
