Yesterday I had the privilege of interviewing a player from the national championship team, LSU. And so the story goes. After questions about recruiting and any knowledge of ill-recruiting practices (illegal), I was told this story.

"So I'm at practice, and Ryan (Perilloux) and I start talking about his decision to come here and spurn Texas. He was pretty pissed off that he couldn't go to Texas and he explained to me why. He'd been receiving gifts and money, since he was a freshman, from 3 LSU boosters. Now at the end of his senior year, he decides to take an official to Texas. When he leaves there (Texas), he now has a house in Texas, with a car, and with a job for his parents. Guess what, Ryan loved it there. So he plans on making it official, but when the LSU boosters/allum find out about his disloyalty to them, they call out the dogs. They tell him that if he decides to go there, then they will open up all of his transgressions with the money and gifts, and that his parents would probably lose their jobs as well."

Now this is pretty interesting given the current accusations, but I havn't heard his name before and this might prove some validity in those rumors. Also, this is the first time I've heard of Texas buying houses and providing cars for recruits. Now, I'm not going to reveal this friend's name to the general public due to obvious reasons, but I will stand behind every word he said. He's a very honest kid with no axe to grind. According to other sources, they're (LSU) being investigated for their mishandling of Jai Eugene. I'm proud to be a Notre Dame fan!

Just looking for clarity here...are you saying that Texas was buying him a house, car, and getting jobs for the parents? And LSU boosters were paying him and showering him in gifts? Just trying to sort this out...how did he get out of the Texas deal w/o them "exposing" the deal as well?

wouldn't the LSU boosters exposing that hurt LSU more than it would hurt the player?

The NCAA reminds me of a battered wife, "he really isn't all that bad. it will be okay". Pathetic.

Yes. Texas has an expensive house and car, in which hi-profile recruits live in and drive during their time there. Also, Texas was unaware of the gifts and money that LSU had given him from day one. It also would make sense to make a threat to a recruit, who has never been through this process before, and would not know all the legalities behind it. Would LSU's boosters have carried through with that threat, I don't know?

Don't forget " I don't want to press charges because I love him" too.

I call BS on all this, if he was so pained to choose LSU over UT in the end why was he recruiting players to LSU behind Mack Brown's back?

Well now we know why its so hard to pull kids out of the south.

First of all, I would never post something like this without being solely behind it. I would assume that if he made friends down in Texas, then he would want them to come with him despite the mess he was involved in. This is the third time I have heard about this from said players family. Apparently when Ryan told him, he called home to tell his family. I didn't believe it at first until yesterday's dinner with him. Here's a great kid, thinking about his education, and could not believe the lack of control showed by his own university, and in Texas's. It's simple, they were roomates and friends, and he couldn't believe the whole Texas deal. It's simply amazing what goes on in front of people and nothing is ever said. From his mouth to your ears, SEC is dirty.

I believe that UT has more than one expensive car.

Can't really comment on the validity of the story, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. Perrilloux going to Texas was a much better situation for him (he would have replaced VY and been starting since last year if he were at UT, in an offense more suited to his abilities).

Anyways, all i can say is that LSU is/was being investigated for the Jai Eugene recruitment. Michigan filed a report to the NCAA last year. I'm not sure of the details but from what I've heard, Jai Eugene originally committed to Michigan, all of a sudden started asking Michigan about "health benefits" for his parents, etc., and then switched to LSU when Michigan said no.

There is no way Perrilloux makes it out of chool. No way! Too much baggage already.

As far as Michigan, tey still stink on that deal. They had that info long before they told the NCAA. They were gonna sit on it if they got Les Miles. That's the same as telling a lie to me. UM has lost a lot of respect from me lately.

who would want a house and jobs for family members in SB....that would send more recruits packing..hahahha.

There's a reason why Lloyd Carr did everything in his power to make sure Les Miles wasn't the next Michigan coach... .

Sorry...late to the game here folks. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your time in SB. There are a lot of great things about this area. Maybe not for a college kid that would like to have his choice between 100 different bars or beaches, but there is upside none the less. I can name at least a dozen other major colleges that are no prize as far as the surrounding area. Funny thing is, I literally spend about 75% of my time in other cities, states, islands, and countries. And look where I live. It's not for everone, but it's for me.

You strike me as a California kid. Definitely a warm weather type.
