Hold on folks, hell is frozen over. As Chris Berman would scream "what"? Exactly, I know it's not over but I can't remember the last time I've seen them ranked that low! Hey Fighton, who else are you guys going after? Is there a chance that this class won't be top 5? I know, USC will get seventy-four 6 star guys on LOI day, but for now, ND's on top!

dude seriously keep posting, I don't care what you say keep posting. I want your avatar posted everywhere.

USC will probably finish with a top 5 class, no worse than like top 7

I'm going to get on my soapbox again. They may not be in the top 10 right now but the will be. More importantly, if you look at their average star rating, they would be number 1 on both Scout and Rivals.

I keep saying this, average star rating is a better measurement because it is about the quality of who has been recruitied and isn't skewed by the number of kids in the class.

USC will (and always does) get several top guys on signing day. They close like no other.

They will be a top 5 class when it is all said and done.

I see they have 4, 5-star guys already and only 3, 3-star guys, leaving the rest to be all 4-star recruits. That seems pretty secure. Like I stated earlier, I know as do you, that they wouldn't be bottom-feeders for long. But can they pull off rising 6 or so spots?

I like now USC hasn't recruited a Rivals 2-Star kid since 2004 and a 2-star that wasn't an O-Lineman since 2003.

There biggest problem this year is basically no one left the team.

If they didnt have 65986453254 stud RBs im sure they would have got another one this year.

And check out their OL class so far, its pretty scary.

And watch out next year recruiting wise, they are going to loose a ton of players after this year, so a lot of jobs will be open for 2009, and Carroll is great at getting every kid thinking they have a shot at a starting spot.

Pure and simple, the recruiting rankings services place way too much emphasis on quantity and not enough on quality. That’s why you see the top 10 littered with teams with 20 or more commits. Truth be told, I would strongly consider trading USC for their FINAL recruiting class straight up if I were CW. Granted, USC put an emphasis on the OL, while ND focused on defense. But with the expected close to the recruiting cycle, the Poodle will again have a top 5 class and my statement will become even more accurate. The offensive line class the Poodle is bringing in is absolutely absurd. According to Rivals.com, USC has pledges from 2 of the top 4 OT (including #1 overall) recruits and 4 of the top 8 OG recruits. How sick is that? As for WRs, Shoemate vs. Floyd is probably a push and I like Brice Butler more than Deion Walker (so did CW and staff btw).

Our class will finish strong imo. I dont know how the rankings specifically work, but Rivals/Scout probably puts too much emphasis on quantity and not enough on quality. SC will probably finish w/ 20-22 commits so that means the coaches feel good about at least 6 players right now....

Recruiting classes should be evaluated based on how they address a team's needs. Just like ND's priorities this year were to address OL, DL and LB (which you guys did very well), SC had 2 main positions of need - OL and DE and are on track (hint - DE silent) to address those needs as well.

There's very little chance that SC ends up with a class as good as ND's this year, but watch out for 2009.

Nick Perry? Is he the silent?

Shoemate/Floyd is not a push.

Shoemate may be faster, but floyd is better all around IMO.

We'll be taking a smaller class next year

Your main competition might be UCLA, especially if they somehow finagle Chow to join Neuheisel's staff.

They will do just fine this year, even if they didn't recruit one guy they would still be loaded to the gills with talent.

I don't know why people diss Shoemate so much on this site, he came back this year and had a damn good year in one of the toughest leagues in all of the NATION

and I don't think Perry will be a Trojan, he's indicated that distance will be a factor, it looks like no matter where he ends up ND is gonna have to get a piece of him (UM/MSU/USC)
