braxton cave not making the top 100 is total BS, i think if he would've played in the army all-american game then he would've made the list. IMO walker got knocked out of the top 100 probbly due to injury.

I would definitely says Cave didn't make it b/c he was in the "other" all-star game.

Mike Adams moves from #85 to #3 for dominating during the Army week.

We'll see where Cave lands, but if I remember right he was great in the drills, and as for the game- he punked Rivals shiny-new #2 DT all game.

Just seems to me the UA game didnt carry as much weight.

You would think they wouldnt keep EJ at 32 then. But, he may be just that good. I haven't seen much film on him.

thats an excellent point SD. i haven't seen any film of EJ but from what i hear he is a monster on defense.

great to see Floyd get some well deserved love, but I still wish ND coulda made Baldwin happen.

Me too, but sometimes things just aren't meant to be. I hope Baldwin has a great career at Pitt (except when he plays us). But, I can't tell you how happy I am with our committed receiving core. It wasn't too long ago that we were all asking ourselves why Charlie couldn't bring in top-flight WR's. Well, now we have 3 top-flight WR's coming.

He was injured pretty much all year, so they really couldn't do anything without compromising their ranking.

Move him up? RE: "What is your basis for it? He didn't play his senior year, so you're moving him up based on outdated information?"

Move him down? RE: "So you're going to penalize a kid for being hurt? Imagine if he hadn't been hurt, and how good he could/would have been playing."

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, so the best course of action for rivals was to sit on their hands.

Ok, i just went and watched the one video on rivals of EJ. He truly is a man among boys, and that was his junior film. Now, the competition in Oregon isn't top tier, but it looked like he was playing against middle schoolers. My favorite play was when he blew up the guard in front of him, knocking him back into the running back as he was getting the ball.

I would definitely says Cave didn't make it b/c he was in the "other" all-star game.

When you think about that kind of jump, it really goes to show just how little these "talent evaluators" know. Its not like Adams lived in Wyoming in a town where video cameras aren't available, so rivals had all the chances in the world to "discover" this kid. And yet after one good week in Texas, and he's a top 5 prospect in the nation? That kind of jump tells me they're either missing the boat on their talent evaluations, or they aren't doing a good job at discovering good talent, and I tend to think its more towards the former. They've had 3-5 different chances to rank these kids before, so they really should have a better bead on these kids than they actually do.

I think the hardest single determining factor with evaluating talent, is competition level. I mean, obviously it is easier to see where kids are at when they play at the highest divisions in FL, TX, and CA, but I'm guessing it is extremely difficult to evaluate talent in smaller states b/c you just don't know what kind of competition these kids are going against on a week to week basis. So, i think camps help clear up some of that but until they get to these "elite" games and go full contact against elite players, its very hard to tell where these kids are at.

Also, when you talk about the shear number of HS kids, the fact that these recruting services are able to be as successful as they are is actually pretty incredible.

i believe i read somewhere that walker was showing weaknesses in practices at the UA game (before he was injured)..

that may be why he dropped..

the weird thing is, that before he was a 6.0.. and now he is a 5.8..

so it must have been pretty bad?

wow trob went up 61 spots, thats imprressive

Pretty funny how Hunter ended up in the top 25.

I really think he let some of the hype go to his head, but usually when you have schools like USC, Mich, UF, etc all giving offers that is probably going to happen.

I guess its just a little more salt in the wound now with him.
