He is a mean hitter. I can't wait to see him on the field at ND. Reminds me of Glenn Earl. I would rather see him at safety than corner i think.

SD, you'll get ur wish eventually, by the time he's a junior he'll be a safety, but either his or blanton's physical presence will be much welcomed at CB early in their careers

I went to the game they are showing in the highlights. The kid has free safety written all over him in the college game. He loves to come up to the line of scrimmage and destroy people.

 

I would be shocked if he played cornerback for ND.

I just hope we get some top targets at CB. Walls has been developing really nicely, and I'm excited to see how McNeil, Gray and Prince contribute. But I think that we're going to need a continuous pipeline of top corners to ensure that we are able to play man against top WRs. We only landed 1 corner (Gray) last year, and two the year before. If we're moving Slaughter and possibly Blanton out to S, then we need to pursue some elite corners for next year. Anybody know of top corners we're in on for 09?

We have a stable of safeties. I think Blanton and Slaughter will both stay at CB. We are good, nothing to worry.

Blanton will be a CB for 4 years. If he has a good career he can make the switch to S at the next level (way ahead of ourselves).

 

Slaughter will be a CB for a few years but will eventually be a S. We're deep at that position now but in a few years it'll be too hard to not put him there. We all know what he can do in run support

In the 3-4 def it is helpful to have bigger more physical corners than normal. The idea is to jam and keep the receivers on the line of scrimmage so the bigger cornerback make it easier to do this with, thats probably why CB has been looking at Slaughter to play corner and not safety.

I know that CB recruited Blanton as a corner, and also slaughter, but slaughter looks to be a prototypical safety, but with his athleticism, he could play corner as well.

Yeah, before he committed he was in the top 100 then bam, after he commits he's out of the top 250.

 

Basically i think its a result of having to try and cover AJ Green in the NC/SC game.

 

I'm still really excited about getting him.
