Mike is currently committed to michigan, however a michigan poster on jjhuddle seems to know that martin is talking with ND and will now prob decommit from UM because of the firing of the assistant coaches.....he or she seems to think that ND is closing in fast for him and they wouldnt be surprised if he ended up in our class......again this is just what one poster said but i figured i would pass it along

Martin's high school team used a 5-2 base defense last year and he was the nose tackle... This year they switched to a 4-3 and he shifted over to DT...

He is a good "plan B" type kid... But I have to say I'm not that high on him. While I think he will be a solid D1 player, he has a lot of work to do... He plays very stiff and his balance is underwhelming in my opinion considering he is also a very good wrestler... He showed a bit of a knack for rushing the passer this year, however, which is a plus. He will need to play with better explosion off the ball and balance if he wants to be an effective NT in college.

He is a solid player and a guy I would take in a heartbeat... But he's not the impact player Hunter is.

I think Mike is better than just a plan B type guy. He's a really strong guy that with an extra 20lbs would be a force in the middle.

Well, he is a second-tier prospect. That doesn't mean he's bad. But he is our plan B to Hunter... I mean we never offered him until Hunter started to waver, so it's safe to say he's our plan B. There's nothing wrong with that. Hunter is a top 5 DT in the nation... Martin is a solid prospect but he's not a top 100 player or even a top 150 player.

With that said, I will embrace him as much as Hunter, and he has a good chance of being a solid player for us if we land him.
