This is true.

He will also visit Oregon and Arizona State in January, but Notre Dame is the latest official he has scheduled at the moment.

I think we have a real good chance with him.

Noooo. Ty does not deserve a HC job anywhere. Walker would only improve UW's defense, thus saving Ty's a$$.

norm chow was offered the UCLA job, so it looks like Walker's out.

Out of the Head Coaching job, but he could still be a defensive co-ordinator.

I can read the whole article and the "If/Then" scenario is not entirely accurate. I wont say more but we have legit shot heard but ultimately (and not premium) will somewhat come down to ND admissions...

i love this kid he would be a huge get.

Me too. At first I thought "who cares", not anymore. The more I learn about him the more Im impressed. He's a stud. Load up this class, thats what I say.

This is a name that really excited me way back in the early days of this recruiting class - we're talking spring/summer. I'm so glad to see his name still in the mix, even if he is still a soft verbal. From what I've gathered, they're pitching him on some kind of hybrid OLB/Shawn Merriman type of pitch for the first couple years, then they'll see where he is after 1-2 years in the strength/conditioning program. Wouldn't a Shawn Merriman body type on the field for ND be somethin...

I think his name is the one I'll be monitoring more closely than anyone else outside of Hunter - though it won't be hard to keep up on Hunter, seeing as most all of the ND recruitniks are on 24/7 "Omar Watch 2007-2008". He'd make a wonderful recruiting compliment to Darius Fleming if you ask me.

I've heard some negative things in regards to Datone's work ethic/heart, he was at one of the combines and when he was beat in one of the 1 on 1 drills he flat out quit instead of trying again

I heard the same thing about Golden Tate. Charlie and them know how to beat it out of you and get you performing. It's part of transitioning from HS to College.

the biggest transition for these kids is when they realize they're not the Big Man on Campus anymore and realize they're just another tool in the shed.

There is a new article out on Datone Jones, it talks about his love for Coach Walker at UCLA, and how he's keeping an eye on whether he gets the head coaching job. He also mentions that Colorado is recruiting him the hardest and how he's eager to check out South Bend, he says he's eager to check out the environment to see if he'd be able to live there.

That's a little concerning because the wx in SB in January isn't exactly pretty. A September or May visit would be much better. I guess he'll see the worst of the worst though.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. BTW... His stats are ridiculous he finished his senior season (8-3) with 126 tackles, 13 sacks, five fumbles, and an int.

Article is on the oregon rivals board.

well im not sure it's a concern b/c he said he saw Colorado and there was snow and he liked it.

I just heard from some very reliable Bruin insiders that AD Guerrero told Walker that he was no longer in the running for the head coach job.

It looks like it's as good as Neuheisel's now.

This could be very good news for us if Walker decides to go play with Tyrone.

The problem I see with him going to UW is that Tyrone is already on thin ice.

Another horrible year and Ty will probably be gone, along with the entire coaching staff, possibly.

If Walker has thought about this, he may decide that staying with UCLA is the smartest move for himself.

Thanx for the info Chris.

That's not necessarily true. If Ty is let go next year, Walker could be promoted from DC to HC (i.e. Randy Shannon). It's not that unusual, especially if the UW defense shows improvement.
