Peter (AZ): Any news on Deion Walker? Has he narrowed his choices down yet? Please tell me Notre Dame is one of the leaders for his services.

Tom Luginbill: (3:03 PM ET ) I spoke with his coach last week and some new folks seem to be hot on his trail right now including Boston College and Cal as well as Texas Tech. ND and Penn State are still high on his list, but USC and some others seem to have backed off a little. He will be making his announcement at the UA game this January 5th.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul, NY: Who do you think Notre Dame adds to round out their class? Also, there is a lot of speculation that Trevor Robinson is already a silent commit, who is waiting until EE to announce so he doesn't face Husker backlash. Heard anything?

Tom Luginbill: (3:24 PM ET ) I think you could probably look to see Chris Harper who I think is really, really good as well as maybe Deion Walker and Cyrus Gray. Gerrall Robinson as well.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bryan (Wadsworth, OH): Is there any word on Omar Hunter? Is he a def solid commit? He would be a huge loss to ND, tell me there's no chance of a decommit?

Tom Luginbill: (3:40 PM ET ) Last time we checked in with him for Under Armour game prep he was good to go at ND!

i didn't think chris harper was looking at ND very hard anymore since ND wanted him as a WR.

Yeah most people think he will go to zooker or Oregon.

Kind of interesting to see the question that was asked about TR, Tom had nothing to say about him. :?

I was thinking the same thing luck. trying to figure out if it was a stiff arm, a side step or maybe he just didn't have any info on him????

Agreed - either no information or maybe he knows and wants to protect a source? Or third possibility is he tries to limit his responses in a blog and just picked one question to address.

I wonder how old his information is. He mentioned Harper and I agree with Russ that based on what I read, we may not be in it for Harper anymore. If Luginbill's info is old, that explains it, but if it's recent, are we still that close with Harper?

the fact that the first name he came up with was Harper's is reason enough to discount anything he says. Harper is the least likely of all those guys. I don't know why we'd expect a national outlook guy like this to be more up to date then us obsessed losers about our own squad (with the exception of if he'd just talked to someone before it got a chance to find our ears, which is rare).

i would basically ignore his opinion on the remaining recruits' decisions. He's fine to listen to for his opinion on players' abilities though.

good point tchris. i would say the exception would be Tom Lemming. He gets pretty good info.

that's cause he's an ND fan from Chicago so he pays close attention to all things ND related, though sometimes he'll accidentally inflate a kid's interest in ND.

Not being bias but I think Deion best choice is ND. When you look at the schools he is considering USC and ND are the only ones that have really produced good receivers the past years. I remember a few years ago Penn state got the #1 prospect in the country, he was supposed to be some big time playmaker like Percy Harvin from Florida. I think he is a senior now and isn't even considered a top 20 WR in college. When was the last time PSU and FSU had an All-American WR or QB? ND and USC had one a year ago. Now when you consider USC all you have to do is look at their depth at WR. It would take him a few years to get on the field. ND doesn't have depth at WR just numbers. Both schools look to bring in 2-3 receivers. I know ND had one of its worst years on offense but when you look at the future their offense looks more promising than PSU and FSU.

derrick williams.

yeah thanks for reminding me, he said he was going to bring PSU back to the top of college football.

he doesnt have a qb to throw to him

he doesnt have a qb to throw to him

thats probbly the biggest reason why USC or ND would be better then PSU. PSU doesn't have anyone after morelli to throw him the ball while USC and ND are stacked with good QBs.

Im not trying to Pessimistic, but since Quinn left we have not proven we have a good QB. We have young talent that will probably be good/great with some decent blocking & a running game. Our offense was enough to scare away any recruit this year and the fact they stayed is just awesome. I am definitely not saying we do not have a chance with him, I am just saying we are not stacked with good QBs.

i guess what i ment was that USC is stacked at QB while ND has a more promising future at QB then PSU does.

Come on. Quinn has been gone one year. This isn't: "we haven't had a good QB since Montana left." We started a freshman this year that will only get better, and we have one of the top ranked QBs coming in the fall. Our biggest issue is that the QBs aren't experienced. To say that they aren't good, is short-sighted.

I am saying they haven't proven anything in college YET. I am not being short sighted, I am just stating reality. I see your point about Quinn and I should not have used that as an argument. We have QB's with limited college experience that have shown us promise and a reason to be exited for the future. Come on, I think I said that in my original post.

I am just saying we are not stacked with good QBs.

It was your conclusion (quoted above) that I thought that you were off-base on.
