Rumors are starting to swirl that Texas A&M commit Lewis-Moore is thinking about decommitting and choosing ND. It's being reported on one of the premium pay sites. I don't want to get anybody in trouble by posting "premium content" from another site, so if anybody wants further info, just PM or e-mail me....

truthfully I would like to take D Jones, or N Perry, but I also think KLM has nice ability.

has ND even offered nick perry, rivals and scouts don't even have ND listed as one of his favorites. i'd also rather go with jones or perry at OLB and for KLM i just don't see much from him on his film, for a guy who's 6'4 225lbs. he just seems to lumber along without real good speed.

The same thing was said about Brian Smith last year, yet he turned out to be the best freshman we had on the defensive side of the ball. (Yes, better than the beloved Kerry Neal)

You can't judge a player by a couple of videos from high school. We won 3 games last season. We need anyone and everyone we can get.

At 6-4 225, he could play a myriad of positions.

i was actually high on Brian Smith when he committed last year and i wondered why Minter hadn't liked him. He jumps off his film and fires around the field and you can tell he's leading his team emotionally (that emotion probably caused some of his penalties this year but ill take that). I'm on record somewhere here on DD as saying he was the frosh i picked to make the biggest impact this year on D (after watching his tape and hearing about Corwin liking his mental aptittude during a spring ball visit).

But, KLM doesn't jump off the screen. And it's not about being picky after a 3-9 season, its about being picky when you already have 2 outstanding DE's committed and 2 other better prospects that your going after, even if they are longer shots.

If we didn't have those guys I'd be extremely excited about this kid but it seems more likely he'd end up like poor Mo Richardson and not have a role.

I'll take any of these three guys left on the defensive side. So whoever commits first I will be happy with. Would these three play the same position in college?

Perry would be a great fit as a 3-4 OLB. Jones right now has the size and frame to be play DE in a traditional 4-3, so I'm not sure if he's a better DE or OLB in your 3-4.

Wow some of you guys sure are being picky after a 3-9 season.

If Corwin Brown likes him, he is good enough for me.

This isn't directed at you Canadian but I'm not a big fan of the quote. We are sitting in the #1 spot in recruiting so we should be picky regardless of our record this year. In fact, ND should be picky every year.

My point is if the coaching staff wants him on the team, we shouldnt complain because he doesnt stand out on some film on the web. Not everyone can be a playmaker, and if a guy gives a 100% every play, he can play for my team anyday.

And this isnt just about being 3-9, its also only the second year in a 3-4 system and this team has some serious depth issues in the front 7 right now. So I dont exactly want to play a 'wait and see' game when a 4 star DE is showing intrest.

Gotcha. I misinterpreted your quote to mean that we can't be choosy because of our poor year. All I was saying is I don't think that's the case. Thanks for the clarification, it makes sense to me now.

If any of you have a premium access package with II, read the film review on KLM. Definitely gets your blood running with the guy. Their opinions could be summed up as, has some holes in his game, but he's a blue collar, maximum effort every snap, nasty streak kind of player - one I feel this defense still needs more of. They also build a pretty decent case for him remaining at defensive end. So, I will revise my position with the re-emergence of defensive recruiting in this class:

Of the three names floating around with most seriousness attached to them - Datone Jones, Kapron Lewis-Moore, and Nick Perry:

- If we're trying to fill in an OLB slot, I hope it's Perry. 36 sacks his senior year, plus playing flat out mean... 'nuff said.

- If we're trying to add another defensive lineman, of the three I hope it's KLM. Word is that his focus this season was a) playing with his hand on the ground, and b) hunkering down on stopping the run. If there's one part of our defense which remained disappointing all year, its run defense, so I'd welcome his addition in that regard, even if he is still an undersized 3-4 DE prospect. I'm tellin' ya, their film review is very different than the rough consensus from ND recruitnik posters like you and me.

yea i read the film review and while it's great to hear he's an effort guy, a lot of times that's a euphamism for just not being that naturally athletic. It seemed like Prister's review of him kept harping on his effort because there wasn't much else to praise.

he does play against good competition though, being from Texas. I just don't think we need a 5th DL prospect for basically 3 positions in this class unless he's a complete stud.

I read it as well, and agree completely. On film he doesn't look explosive at all. I would rather have Perry, Jones, then Lewis-Moore. Perry would be a great hybrid OLB/DE player with his explosiveness, Jones looks like a beast at DE...his frame reminds me of Victor Ambrini, but he seems more quick twitch.

I would definitely take Lewis-Moore, but only if we strike out with the first two.
