Not to stir the pot, but since we're all wondering how the staff will be constituted next season, does anyone have an idea of what timeline we might be looking at? I need something to keep me occupied over the next 70 days besides reading every bogus recruiting rumor.

Charlie is recruiting now, I believe I read recruiting can happen til Dec 16. Anyone have a clue when we may hear of changes?

And, can someone please raid Schwapp's locker room and destroy the blackmail evidence he must have on Charlie? Please.

What?

I would think that Charlie doesnt start looking to replace coaches until after the NFL season. I am sure he is going to go back to the well and use his connections to find suitable NFL position coaches.

Unfortunately for us, NFL coaches seem to be less suited for developing college players than than what is needed here.

i dont get that, but i agree with the fact Schwapp isnt the best of fb's to say the least

i dont think Weis should be going after any NFL coaches. i think if hes going to replace any coaches they should be ones who are more familiar with the college level and what it takes to teach/improve players at that level.

somone like OL coach Latina.. is it best to wait until after signing day? or let him go very shortly and go after someone soon?

id really like to see what luke smidt(spelling?) can do. He reminds me alot of Dan Krider the Steelers fullback.

The Schwapp joke was a reflection of my belief that there is no plausible explanation as to why he still starts/plays at all other than the fact that he is blackmailing Charlie.

A good gues if any chages are made sometime in December. Vaas and Minter were let about January 17 2007 to get us past the Bowl game we got trashed in by LSU.

Date I can't say there would be alot of paper work to cover, plush ire replacements.

Don't the coaches have to go sooner than later if you want to get a great replacement?

I know that this could put some of our recruit's commits in jeopardy, but we need what's best for the team.

SpecialFNK said it best, get college coaches with experience to replace whoever.

No more NFL guys.

Can't happen soon enough. I'm guessing December. Latina must go.

If they're going to make changes (Latina) they should do it now. It might give some good coaches out a chance to think about things. I bet an ND paycheck isnt paycheck isnt very small.

This is a difficult predicament to be in as it could have an effect on recruiting, especially those already committed. Making the change early is ideal so that you can bring someone in to coach spring ball. On the other hand, if it causes us to lose some key recruits, should we wait? My position is that I would rather be up front and honest with the recruit then to have them get here and feel betrayed.

That said, I think Weis waits at least a little bit until he can analyze the issues and their resulting causes for the problems this year. That may take until after he meets with New England or could occur much sooner.

While I do think some changes are necessary, it wouldn't surprise me to see this staff intact again next year. Especially if after his analysis, Weis determines that he was the major source of the problem (whether it be his style or decisions). It will certainly be interesting to watch.

I am changing my time line for any coaching changes to February. (after NSD.) We do know Weis returns December 17th for recruiting. He will be analzing current Staff performance and the players.

According to the Indianapolis Star today he will then go to visit the Pats in February to go over everything with them.

Assuming the Pats go to the Super Bowl in January the delay to Feb is unusual.

I tend to agree with you SJ on the Feb timeline, but I am wondering if he knows certain coaching changes are immenent, is he going out to prep the verbals and solidify their commitment to him and the program despite any coaching changes?? Just a thought

after national signing day would be my guess

i think latina should get one more year to prove himself. IMO i think CW really didn't allow latina to develop his OL and teach them the propper tools.

russ, as you know, I don't think Latina should get another year, but we will leave that one lay. The problem I see with CW giving Latina another year is that, hypothetically speaking, if Latina really is the problem and the OL is terrible and we have another 3-4 win season, CW is all of a sudden on the hot seat. I'm not sure that the alum and fans will tolerate another 3-9, 4-8 kind of season. And if a season like that does happen, you can bet we won't be bringing in top 5 recruiting classes any more because the kids will have to think that either CW has no idea whats he's doing or he's going to be on a very warm seat.

Mighteyeskimo, I've read you say that before, and I got it immediately the first time I saw it. When you fumble more than an armless ryan grant....well there must be some reason he plays when we already have huge power backs like hughes and JA....o-line coach...LOU HOLTZ! Bring him in!

With all the coaches being fired or let go today, I wonder if ND should go after some of the assistant coaches who are going to be replaced when the new head coaches come in.

Agree with IrishLeopard, Weis isn't going until February so that he can wrap up recruiting and keep this killer class intact!!!

That would really be a dirt bag thing to do and he would lose all credibility IMHO if he were to do that. Talk about unfair to the recruits.
